When I pay good money to watch something I expect to be entertained, watching the Saints at present is akin to a trip to the dentist or sitting in a waiting room - waiting and waiting and waiting.
I cannot for the life of me understand why people want to keep RM? Sideways backwards across the middle sideways back to the goalkeeper backwards sideways across the middle - Ohhh get into a good position ......will he cross? Noooooo back to safe option - round and round and round we go -
    I'm not watching that anymore, can't - won't - sorry
Not going to spend decent money watching turgid boring endless pretentious possession football with no meaning. I'm not stupid or niave in thinking we won't probably get relegated but please God lets do it with some entertaining counter attacking speedy football that gets me on the edge of my seat ( or any kind of football that doesn't drive me mad with frustration watching it )
And yes, I absolutely agree that all this is a vanity project from RM - and including the board - they strike me as trying to be far too clever for their own good!
At the end of the day, I want value for money - I want to be entertained - I want to cheer my team on to victory - I don't want to be sitting there wondering why I made the effort to watch this garbage.
I have supported Saints and the city of Southampton since I can remember - always have done and always will

I see Moyes is being floated on BBC gossip. He knows about being boring but winning. I’d take him in the blink of an eye.

Just like the club did with Bazunu, they will continue to tell us that we should ignore the evidence of our own eyes.

SR are so bad. Not only are they terrible decision makers, but they are ridiculously stubborn about those terrible decisions

"I want" is the problem here, sadly you can't always get what you / (we) want. There is a minority view that think RM could possibly do ok, if he had the tools to do the job. It's the same scenario that we had with Ralf H, he had the capability, but he was sold short in the recruitment side of things.
I have also been supporting the Saints for over 70 years, and sometimes I have got what I wanted, but not very often. For financial reasons we seem to be stuck with RM, so the emphasis should be on convincing SR to give him the support he needs. Somehow, even with another Window to come, I doubt it will get us the success we all want. Time will tell. I prefer a no VAR Championship, so I won't be too sad if we go down.

My view is that Martin could be a good manager in the PL, provided he has the players to do so. For me that is having a side that is at least half way in terms of overall quality if you were to rank all the teams.

That is just not realistic for Saints any time soon due to relegation. Managers like Hassenhuttl for a time managed to get lesser players achieving results because of how we played. The way Martin plays there is zero chance of that happening in my opinion

On the evidence of this season so far i'm inclined to agree with you. Not enough creativity or players that can make a goal out of nothing to cash in on all the possession.

I’ve mentioned it before but if you look at his record overall he basically does what the talent level of the squad is capable of. No more, no less. That isn’t bad as lots of managers underachieve at some point (you could argue he is underachieving this year depending on you opinion of our squad) but crucially he’s never over achieved I don’t think.

For a team to survive in the PL after promotion they have to overachieve to stay up more often than not, he just isn’t the manager to do that.

I do think if he was managing like a Brighton/West Ham talent level squad then he would be flavour of the month. He just isn’t right for what we need right now, and as he won’t try and adapt we had no chance this season

It’s not the same though. We knew Ralph was a good PL manager. Martin has not been successful above championship level.

I wake up every morning 13hrs behind you lot in time, waiting to read that he has been sacked. Every day is like ground hog day though. They are not going to sack him are they?

He isn't going to be sacked anytime in this international break. It would have been after Wolves or not at all.

I’m choosing to believe, for my own sanity, that the managers that they’ve approached don’t want it and so they’ve decided to not waste money sacking him now and will do so at the end of the season instead. Funny thing is I don’t think there are many on here that really have any faith that they’d get the next managerial appointment right anyway given their track record.

The fact Alfie House was saying about how much the cost to sack him is can’t be coincidence. If we wanted to sack him to save our skin we would’ve done it after the Leicester game (or even earlier).

They have probably taken the approach that it is likely too late to realistically get the points needed having already played the fixtures we have and sacking him and potentially another manager before the end of the season is mental financially, and that is even if there is a manager they would want longer term who wants the job

Like you and many really like a VAR free league but not sure if that will always be the case in the Championship. Also the attraction of that aspiration is a double edged sword in that unless we are challenging for promotion the enthusiasm starts to evaporate, we’ve been too long regarded as a PL team (if not a great one for sure) and the warm glow of our experience last season was coloured by the drive for promotion which might not be the case next time.
I think RM has had enough time to prove himself not yet ready for the PL and therefore a sensible change is required pdq. However, I’m coming to an uncomfortable realisation that SR will not go down that road. It’s expensive and not necessarily successful to change midterm perhaps is their thinking.

So we all have to endure this smug, arrogant cock for ages then.

I really hope people vote with the wallet, don't turn up to games or watch the live ones on TV.

I’m not going to any games until he’s gone. I stream them for free but will stop doing that at some point.
