Very glad you're still with us @Ponders Revisited I was worried you might have gone for good as well. That was heavy on my conscience. I too am not up to speed on our new signings. At present I'm devising new layouts for the season stats I usually update match by match. I hope they are helpful, but they take a while to generate. I'm hoping to streamline the process so it can be done in less than an hour each time.
Get well soon @lardiman It’s often good to have a distraction when you are not feeling great, and our 7.5 members all want you to continue posting on here while you recuperate.
I am having to learn patience. Never needed it before in my 57 years. But times change. I'm finding it a challenging lesson.
They're doing their best. Sorry for backing away last week. It could have been worse - I was a click away from deleting everything to do with my time on forums since 2015. But I didn't. I'm learning to take a longer view of things and not feeling so frustrated by immediate problems. Watching the ceremonies at the Cenotaph yesterday on TV was a most uplifting experience. Has helped me to gain a sense of perspective.
One thing I learned long ago about the NHS, from personal experience, is that it isn’t built for speed. It is an immensely frustrating monolith at times. You have to fight for everything. Welcome back though
You are one of the good guys, Lardi. Keep well and hope all the services that you require get to you soon
I had to wait six months for my operation but the staff couldn’t have been better. They were kind, efficient and very helpful.
Lardi’s welcome return sees 606 return to 10.5 active members …making us the 2nd biggest CAFC forum once again
One of my neighbours recently found an admin job in Charing Cross hospital, employed by the NHS Trust. Despite it being an admin job, his first six days were taken up by “training” on H&S and Diversity. This included a three hour module on “how to identify your own micro aggressions in the workplace”. Expensive & unnecessary politically correct bollocks, which employs bureaucrats at the expense of frontline NHS staff like nurses & physios.
I might as well use this thread to apologise to other Charlton fans for my current and future comments regarding this season. Personally I'm in a better place now than I was a week ago, but I see no way back for CAFC between now and May. We're bottom half of the table. We have one more point than we had at this stage last season - our poorest for 98 years. A few weeks back we were even behind that season. Yet all our SMT does is make us a laughing stock with the circus around the Wrexham game. They all need to go. If this Club was a person, I wouldn't even say we're on life support. I'd say we need Last Rites. Aren't you happy I'm back?
Blood money buys World Football Journalists - if they invite you into one of their Embassies, make your excuses and run away very fast.
No. Just to clarify, the 'no politics' rule applies only to subjects which are Off Topic here on Not606 Charlton. On topic subjects are Charlton Athletic / Football in general / forums & fans * Naturally the politics of these subjects can be freely debated, as the politics of the way CAFC is run goes to the very heart of our forum. Football politics (as with the Saudi bid for the World Cup) are also natural subjects for discussion by all fans. Threads with no prefix, or with any colour prefix other than the green Off Topic one are regarded as on topic, as long as the prefix has not been incorrectly used by the thread creator. * Threads about individual members here (like this thread) can be regarded as on topic. That would also apply to threads about other forums or their members. As those forums are football fans' forums they naturally fall within the area of CAFC and football. Since the comments posted about fellow fans have never been of a political nature until now, that would not seem to be an issue. I hope it can remain that way. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'll do my best to see that all off-topic threads are tagged with the green Off Topic prefix. Only threads with that prefix are the ones where political posts should not be made. Presently on the whole 1st page of our forum there are only six threads prefixed as Off Topic. So the extent of the 'no politics' rule is not very widespread. Naturally any posts judged to be in the wrong thread will be moved to the more appropriate thread. This is what has always happened anyway, though it only happens very occasionally. If a political off-topic post appears in an on-topic thread it will be removed, just as it will be if appearing in any other thread. Simples
