The biggest thing that's grinding on me is the lack of progression. I'm not expecting miracles but just small signs of improvement that gives hope/ encouragement that the future will almost certainly be better. Yet we've looked worse now than we did at this stage last season and if like last season this was going to be our "better period" then frankly we're ****ed in the coming months. A damning and perhaps harsh verdict on what I've seen of Ange in these near 18 months is that he's a very average manager but with huge plans to play entertaining football accompanied by a personality that makes people really wanting him to succeed. Unfortunately a gung-ho 8-man attack doesn't really work in the Premier League like it does in the SPL, A League and J League. He's quite tactically naive and is seemingly unable to improve individuals either from a coaching perspective or tactical one. That said, and I've mentioned it since the window shut, the club severely let Ange down in the summer. A manager's deficiencies can be fully or partially papered over with improved quality. We're even seeing Guardiola struggle now that City have injuries and haven't replaced some key players, so it's no different for Ange. We scraped a 5th place finish last season and crashed out of both domestic cups and it seems those in our boardroom said to themselves "that'll do" or "same again?", problem however is the latter is harder to achieve again when others around you significantly strengthen.
I've been a Spurs fan for 71 years and it reminds me of the movie "The Good,The Bad and The Ugly".Not too much of the Good, but a heck of a lot of Bad and Ugly.
We’ll never progress. We’re just built that way. We’ve never been any good but in the old days we were slightly better because it was a level playing field. Now we’re nothing, I could have chosen any team when I was little as all me and my dad used to was go watch Stevenage all over the country but I watched the 90 World Cup and loved gazza and lineker so like a prick, chose spurs. Regret that decision every day but watched a Boston Red Sox doc the other day and imagine that’s how it’s going to be when it finally happens. 60 year curse will end.
We don’t like pressure as Conte said that’s why to beat us you just need to be up for the fight Lloris in his book stating how the players were given watches that had ‘champions league finalists’ written on them just before the final. weak as ****…job done mentality i wonder if Real and the like do that? small club mentality and it comes from the top No pressure FC
The masochist in me means I can't regret supporting Spurs despite how much they drive me ****ing nuts, lol. I never had a choice in it anyway, family are all Spurs fans, had an Auntie that played for Spurs ladies and my late Grandad was on Spurs' books right before WW2. What often irks me is just the lack of footballing ambition. There's always a plan for the infrastructure and the club's global reputation but never enough of the thing that fans truly desire. So many windows leave me feeling underwhelmed and this one was the near the top of them. Eze and Neto in addition to Solanke and we'd likely be breathing down the necks of the title chasers, in fact with the form of City and Arsenal being quite ropey themselves, this could well have been one of those rare windows of opportunity for a club like us to capitalise and make an unexpected title charge on, instead though we're sitting slap bang in the middle of the table because we decided to make one minor upgrade to a side that scraped fifth last season.
I’ve been sceptical of him since day one as I never thought he could do what he did at Celtic in Scotland with Spurs in England especially with the formation and the way he uses full backs. Regarding his personality, I’ve never seen the likeable guy that a lot of you see. I think he’s arrogant (which isn’t a bad thing) but also overly stubborn (this is be expected at his age). I also think he lacks the attention to detail (especially with defending) that is needed at the top level. The Spurs ‘rebuild’ which started last summer should have been with a younger manager imo. Ange is hugely inexperienced in top leagues and European football but he’s nearly 60 and been a manager for decades. Levy took a big risk on Ange and so far it hasn’t paid off. All that said if I was in charge of Spurs, I’d keep him until the end of the season and then assess everything and if there’s no trophy and the club finish out of the European places then I’d part ways with him.
**** you and **** you and your ****ty club. I tried to kill myself at the start of the year and those ****s on the pitch have been helping hold me together but they’ve finally broken me. whoever is in charge should probably cancel my membership, I’m done with spurs and I’m done with everyone else.
we pay the fees but we don’t pay the wages so we won’t get the players who play like the ‘big’ wages reflect. the fee does not reflect the quality as much as wage does…hence why the best at each club are paid the most, generally speaking. We pay 200k to our best players or around that much…the better players demand more. we dont purchase to win titles…we purchase to scrape top 4
ignore Roy his boob job went wrong and he’s never been the same since nothing my brother, in life, is more important than life. I was once told if you are going through hell…keep on going…you will get to the other side chin up my bro
Easy mate, none of us wants to see you this upset. Sounds like you went through an awful time earlier this year and football can sometimes be the escape that keeps us smiling. You're a solid poster and while none of us know eachother all that well, we do look out for eachother on this board and I know having been around for 9 years under various usernames that behind the banter and jibes, there is a real sense of community on here which I see you as a key member of. Keep smiling, we're rooting for you just as much as we are for Spurs to turn things around. Mods can I please ask one of you to ban Munse from the board? He has clearly upset one of our forum members and his inane drivel/endless GIF spamming add zero value to the debate.
Chin up, fella. Spurs pisses me off as much as the next guy but I do my best to keep my feelings for Spurs outside my general life. Saying that my general life is **** as well , but I live by the sea these days so it keeps me sane! Roy's harmless in general too, just a bit intellectually challenged . He's like our forum mascot. My DM's are always open if you ever wanna chat though, mate.
100%. I have a 1921 cup final team sheet/programme thing I inherited from my grandfather who was at the game, and Tottenham have been ingrained in our family ever since!
Stay strong fella sorry to hear you're having a difficult time. You can get through it. You have to experience hate and venom to witness love and kindness and hell to appreciate heaven.
Roy’s harmless, plus it’s funny to rip the piss out of him when Toon go tits up. He’s not to know what stuff other people are going through and he didn’t say anything harsh or personal.
We've just had a poster mention wanting to take his own life. I'm personally inclined to take that more seriously than Munse's freedom to post Vince McMahon GIFs.
i think tanguy has slightly bigger issues than roy if this is his state of mind. Hopefully he finds the path that leads him onto better things.
I'm sorry to hear this. Is there anything I/we can do to help? Let me know or any other of our posters. As others have said this is a real community of which you are a part. We often differ in our opinions on Spurs but I think all our posters are decent humans and I think you can see that from the response to your post. Don't forget you can private message anyone if you'd like to talk in private. I didn't see the game today and I think I was spared judging by the comments. We should have known that facing a team who had failed to win a game Spurs would provide the solution. We never learn, but we are Spurs fans. Over the years I have learned to try and stay positive and make sure that the disappointment of losing never lasts more than an hour after the game. Most of the time I manage that but Ipswich FFS. Good job I missed it. BTW We had a vote on Roy not so long back and he was endorsed by our board as harmless. And Michael Marra was a Dundee United supporter so he had his disappointments.
