My feeling is that RLB is being deliberately cautious and allowing his players the time to build a genuine understanding and confidence ... ... I fully expect us to become more adventurous in the last third of the season. (We have a very good run in I believe.) Going gung-ho too early, with a young team trying to absorb his systems, might kill the season before it's begun. At this stage I'd say a steady draw is better than a defeat chasing the game too much ... ... as we did at Plymouth and suffered a real knockback. He seems to be trying out different ideas but it's a delicate balance with a bunch of new players.
Yep. We’re slowly implementing ideas and we’re still at the top and playing well for majority of the time. I’m confident
Part of the whole issue is that we've become used to having so many young players doing so well ... ... it's actually incredible that the least experienced team is top of the league.
They will have off days. But I feel anybody saying they don’t think we have the quality to walk out of the next 3 tough games with 9 points is lying. And that shows how good these young, hungry lads can play
And one of the most inexperienced gaffers. I forget this is only his 3rd season. Coaches have to be allowed to learn same as players. Regis strikes me as someone who is always reflecting and learning. I predict when the reverse fixtures come round he will have more confidence in his approach in this league.
Yep. Also think they haven’t really had time to reflect on the QPR, Preston and Cov games til now he even said to sky midweek he doesn’t think they’ll have time to reflect and analyse on the Preston game, likely the same for QPR. Because we’ve had 3 games including lots of travelling in a week. id put money on us after the break not making the same mistakes we made against those 3 teams when he can sit and watch the 90 minutes a few time and have long meetings with the players. I imagine most would agree
I don’t, genuinely. I’d be surprised if we got anything down at Sheffield United, never mind 3 points.
They only just beat Swansea with a lucky own goal and about 30% possession ... ... they weren't too impressive today either imo. And lost to Boro who we beat without too much bother.
They’ve not been impressive. Their defence is winning them games though like us. Will be a battle but we can definitely get points
We run the risk of giving Reg too much credit by suggesting that we aren't dominating games because he wants us to be more robust. Maybe he's just not inclined to think we should go away from home and dominate teams. For me, our most comfortable games have been at home. I do think he's missing a trick by not setting up our side with the intention of dominating possession against the likes of QPR. I heard O'Nien would deputise for Hume if Hume was ever missing. Maybe he just plays all of our defenders against Millwall? Haha
I don’t think the milwall team will be that poor bar wingers and I think onien can fill humes role in the squad well. He’s not as advanced as cirkin
If anyone wants to talk about form. From 16th December to 10th Feb last season this was Ipswich record in championship games W - 1 D - 6 L - 2 That’s 9 games and one win (it had to come against us mind but that was the game we made a silly mistake and lost the game) so could’ve been 9 without a win. In the run in (last 6) they had W - 2 D- 3 L- 1 Another poor run of form They finished second
I’m not so sure tbh. The squad is stretched and the bench will be really poor at Millwall, I can’t see us winning down there at all
We absolutely could get 9 points from the next 3 games but we also absolutely could get zero points. and if we do it will still have been a good start to the season.
Sorry, but “ghosted behin him” is absolutely a joke. The ball was played to a striker by a Sunderland player. If you expand player in world football to read that “pass” then you are deluded. If a Sunderland midfielder gets the ball and it bounces off him to a forward then it’s looking for blame where there is none. Isidor, Neil and Roberts far more to blame than onien yesterday.
They haven't scored more than one goal, in a game since September ... ... if we score we'll have a good chance of a result imo. Anyway, lots of work on the training ground before then.
Also they’re the best form side in the league, but look at the wins and how much they’re getting pressed in and battered, just got to break the defence down and remain strong at the back ourselves. It’s not like they’re blowing teams away the stats from those games are worrying for milwall
