A much better performance but this is relegation form: no win in seven. Select your top three, in order.
Hughes. Best cross of the game solid at the back Dramah. Steady game got forward a lot like to see him at right back Omur. More creative 2nd half when not pushed out on the wings Typical home performance this season, better team but worst result. Although our luck is not improving, they score a fluke deflected goal, and all our deflected efforts go nowhere near the goal. Some decent play & match control but final ball & finishing being normal standard as poor again Team are really trying, but lacking some tactical basics like lack of movement in attacking third.
Hughes ...took his game up a notch today Pedro Simons - Omur when at last they moved him inside. I thought they all showed the right attitude today.
Longman - really not on the pitch for long enough but looked sharp, good control and decent crosses. Really added a spark when he came on. Omur - worked hard throughout and wouldn't let opposition players relax. A good player when used properly. Pedro - also battled hard and did threaten when given decent service. Brilliant headed goal. Simons, Burstow and Drameh all close.
1.Hughes 2. Omur 3. Slater. Simonds deserves a mention too. Unlucky with the first WBA goal and the second looked soft too. I was expecting City to throw the towel in at two nil down but to their credit they had a go. No quality anywhere on the pitch from either team, and WBA slowed the game down terribly which didn't help for another frustrating afternoon at the MKM stadium. I see no evidence at all of this 'heart attack' Walter Ball football anymore, just the tedious trying to play the ball out from the keeper, whilst someone tries to find a spare man to offload the ball too. Not much up front either, until Longman came on. Few shouts of 'sacked in the morning' when the second goal flew in, mainly from the youngsters in the North Stand, few boos at the end, but some applause too. Thought the home crowd stayed with City today, difficult as it was to get excited watching a very average WBA side deal easily with anything we threw at them and waste as much time as possible. Big decision for Acun to make and he's got two weeks to decide what to do. I couldn't call it.
Pedro, given this guy some hammer recently but he put a shift in and scored a good goal, you can see numerous times how frustrated he gets when he makes another run only to see us go sideways again slater, another who put some real effort in today Hughes, guy seems to have a mistake or two in him but definitely has improved our defence.
