Not watched today but do we overrate our front 4? Sounds like if we go up we need a whole new 11. Remember that Sheffield would be above us without the deducted point and can still go above us tomorrow. Doesn’t sound like a glowing performance but at least we got the job done.
I think you could be right. Still looking likely all three that went up could be coming straight back down.
We wouldn't need a new starting 11 IF we went up. Rodon, Ampadu, Tanaka, Ramazani and Gnonto would suffice as starters. Dan James, Struijk, Bogle, Joseph, Piroe, Gruev, Aaronson, Wober would still have a part to play off the bench as squad members.
Hmmm, you say that but one of our “best” players sold has flattered to deceive again for Brighton and been substituted after missing a good chance with his head.
He’s hopeless. And he was totally overrated when he was at Leeds. Amazed Brighton paid us so much money for him. They’re usually pretty savvy in the recruitment area.
I’m not saying you did but the collective opinion on social media was that we’d lost our two best players in Summerville and Rutter. I was just pointing out that in the Brighton game he was annoyingly frustrating as sometimes I remember him (and sometimes he was awesome) and he looks an okay player in the prem at best.
I do think we and other teams believe in a Leeds hype. We also do. It’s like Bamford gets slagged so much but Piroe also does when he doesn’t score. He gets **** for not doing “Bamford or Joseph” things and Joseph gets **** when he doesn’t score but everyone wants him to play because of his work rate but would be fuming if Bamford starts. I just think there isn’t an ideal number 9 out there and those good consistent pressing number 9s aren’t even out there. Haaland doesn’t really do the pressing. He is just quick and knows where the net is and is clinical. Darwin Nunez is a brilliant player but doesn’t score as many as he should. Rutter, Summerville and Gray aren’t as good as we make out. Neither are Gnoto, Joseph, Ampadu and whoever else. We’re a good team in an average to rubbish league. I’d be surprised if 1 or 2 of this team would be main stays in a PL side. The gap just gets bigger and bigger every year. We need to keep getting the wins but we’ve a long, long way to go. Still worrying how much this season seems like last.
Sunderland’s first three after the break Millwall Away WBA - Home Sheff U Away Not easy games, I’m looking at the fixtures and somewhere we could hopefully gain 6 points over the rivals in a short space of time. As we get towards the Christmas schedule we could do with it being a two horse race and not 3-4
If we had a 9 who would get 25 goals then we'd go up. Gnonto, James, Aaronson and Ramazani will chip in with double figures.
Liverpool clear at the top of the PL table. The last three times we have been promoted to the top level, Liverpool have also won the title. This stretches back 70 years.
I wouldn’t play Aaronson in these types of games, I think he’s still not suited to Championship football. He gets shrugged off the ball far too easily. Still remain unconvinced about Bogle (and Rodon for that matter). I was excited at the thought of what Solomon might offer, but he’s light years from the player who turned out for Fulham. We are a terribly hard watch at the moment. Like most, I hate the International break, however maybe it gives us a chance to reset. We should hopefully have Ramrazani back soon, who I think does offer something exciting going forward.
Emu, not entirely sure that’s the correct description. Suspect many are wary of what happened last season, and worry about possible repetition this. On form, when it all clicks, I think we are the best team in the division. On that basis we should go up, however think Sheff Utd will push us all the way. However teams know how to make it difficult for us, and at the moment we are struggling to get through the low block, and when we do, we are far from clinical. Think it’s frustration rather than anything else. I don’t particularly rate a couple of our players, but they are good enough for now, i think we would need a serious upgrade in quite a few areas were we to go up. I just know we can perform better than we have been doing of late.
The awful atmosphere at the games suggests the fans attending aren’t exactly excited by what they’re seeing. I’ll be over in a few weeks and will be better able to judge that
