All good points mate. I'd add Regis will make mistakes. As everyone does. But we are top still and he's only just come here and to the English league. And if we don't go up this season, (which we will) we'll piss it next year
Totally agree mate, if we can keep the majority of this team together it will be a magic carpet ride.
It is a magic carpet ride for me mate. Shìt last years in prem, dropping down to league 1 and the circus ownership. Chodwell and fat wasters crashing cars, eating McDonald's, who couldn't give a shìt. Top players, coach and owner now and top of the league and some still not happy lol.
And the players. That and the team spirit coupled with the supporters on side will take us up this season.
after last season, a new 'unknown' coach coming in and a sprinkling of new players...where do you all think we 'should' be? i go back to my original thought that we would have a slow start but motor on in the 2nd half of the season so i would probably have expected us to be around 10th/12th. this squad can play and along with the coach i am sure they will get it right.
Today we can take positives. First being we are still top of the league. Our young lads will continue to learn how tough this league is and we are in a marathon race but still out in front. They will also have learned that just because we had a good first half that doesn’t mean the second one will be also. Never at anytime in this league can you take your foot off the gas. RLB will reflect tonight what he thought he got right and what he could have done otherwise. So proud of these lads how they are battling away each week. We have some exceptional players. Those two goals today just amazing. I’m loving every minute of this. Special mention to KS for what a squad he has put together on and off the pitch. Onward and upwards HTL!!!
Honestly think, with a suntory or several in me, if we focus on attack a la Ipswich we win. The quality we show at times, it's level above. Funny how this defensive approach appears to favour the opposition time and time again.
When it goes 2-2 any other manager in the league changes it. I know it’s a ****e bench with very little quality but RLB is a bit safe, isn’t he? It’ll cost us I’d still be ecstatic with 6th place.
Seems an intelligent guy RLB. Let's reset, we've had a few poor performances, a couple weeks off and we're to of the league on our 3rd season back from league 1. Samed was brought in for a reason...Hendo might be yet. The best may be yet to come
For me I think that second half was not as bad as some make out. They pressed higher, however we beat that press on a few occasions but ultimately did not convert any of those chances. IMO I think for the first time this season RLB got it wrong when forced into a double substitution, which really helped swing the game even more toward Coventry. However we are still top and as we have done previously we will learn from this game and move forward again. We have players nearing full fitness and also Jobe (who I think has been a huge miss) due back soon, we are still averaging just over 2 points per game and are also very good defensively. Now is not the time for the negative fannies to rear their heads it is a time when true supporters reflect on the first few months and get ready for a season defining festive fixture pile up. Let’s see where we are in January and how prepared we can be for the Easter matches and the run in. Remember form is temporary but class is not and I believe this team has shown moments of real class at the start of this season and they have shown a maturity beyond their years how they have dealt with everything. There has been very little petulance and a lot of professionalism in these opening games and I for one am very proud of this team and what they have achieved so far. Can we stay the course, only time will tell, but for now we puff out our collective chests, throw back our shoulders and march into the future and face it head on with confidence and some more of that grit, skill and determination that got us to this point. HWTL
we are finished man it started at QPR last week we are not good enough we have bluffed our way to the top we kid ourselves i have seen this in 50 years of watching SAFC, plus the ****e refs yellow cards etc, we need a huge change to get us up, that 2nd half made me mad how they collapsed like kids and thus will go on no experience in there for starters no Cattermole or Ball, and no striker still so for Mepham etc at the back christ when we are bad we are bad but i am not allowed to say that, say we ****ed up badly in front of 43,000 you cannot defend that we are back to square one
After reflection of yesterdays game. I don't want to bad-mouth any Sunderland player but what is connelly giving us ATM. Wilson should have stayed on up front and waton should have been his replacement. Let do subitutions on a like-for-like basis. But I honesty don't know why Alecsic is in the first team squad if he is never going to be given a chance. When Browne went off injured that was the oppotunity to give him his debut (personally thought he should have come on with 30mins remining against Oxford). If ever there was a time for an internation break it was now. Hopefully we can all re-group and get back to the basics.
I take it all back about IBs, think we might benefit from this one massively...just hope those players going come back fit and well.
Few fans getting a bit panicky, but I’m sure the season we walked the league with Reid we got beat at home 3-2 off Barnsley I think? after we thought we’d beat them. Just remember what happened that season KTF.
See Bishops post #575. Totally agree. To add, and I did mention it before the game yesterday, why can our players not learn to play a simple fkn 5 yard square pass to someone in a better position to shoot? Roberts, Connolly and Isodor all guilty in the 2nd half. Decision making needs to improve and not always look for the glory themselves. But the positive is we are still top and love the fact we have already won GotM again and probably GotS with Cirkins. I wonder if Wilson tw*tted him for bettering another superb finish from him .
My sons 1st game. He was 3 or 4 yrs old and at one point I saw him giving the universal sign language of the V's to the Barnsley supporters. Obviously gets that from his mothers side of the family
It's all been said really. Cracking first half 2 glorious goals, not so 2nd half Sat deep allowed Coventry into the game, poor use of subs. Injuries and suspensions to key players now but a couple of weeks rest. First time RLB has got things wrong but it happens. No time to panic.
