No. At 1-1 the rest of the game plays out differently. The pressure would have been on Wolves to attack more etc. Would have been a more open game. Maybe we'd have still lost, but you can't just say it would have been 2-1. (Would probably have been 3-1 haha).
It's all the wrong way round. Look at your best 11 players and build your system around them. Not this is the system we are going to play and you will have to fit into it. Square pegs round holes... for instance Archer is a Steve Moran type of striker (not as good), but needs a big man to run off.. How many times have we had both he and tall Paul on together? Walker-Peters is our best right back and left back. Sugawara is our 2nd best right and our 2nd best full back overall.. get my gist..
I just don't get on what planet that Russ thinks this style of football will win games in the Premier League
I had to check those stats to believe that. Although shouldn’t the disallowed goal have counted as a shot on target?
But I suspect that he does think this style of football will advance his own career. I'd be interesting to know what Burnley fans think of Kompany. Grateful for getting them promoted, no doubt. But then they had to sit through a whole season of this rubbish last year, only for Kompany to sod off.
No coz effectively the whistle had already gone. I was surprised at the numbers but regardless we are pointless. I think clubs will just look at us as 3 points unless they **** up. That’s the reality.
However **** we have been, and we have, we are still only 3 points from safety. We are never going to make even 3 points up creating such few chances and having 0 shots on target
Home now. That was genuinely appalling. The first half was one of most dull football matches I've ever seen and I mean from both sides. But even with all of our possession they still looked far more dangerous than us when they broke. I genuinely could have happily left at HT today I reckon. It was that bad. As it was I lasted til 80 minutes when BBD back heeling the ball out of play right in front of me pushed me over the edge. To not have a meaningful attempt after the disallowed goal was nothing short of pathetic. Unless we did after I left.
I salute you for lasting 80 minutes. I am disappointed watching that from my warm comfy home. Hats off to supporters like you today travelling for 6 hours in the cold, spending your hard earned money, for that performance.
I didn't watch it today. I'll watch the highlights when I've got a spare 12 seconds. Ought to be able to fit in all our good stuff in that time judging by the comments. RM puts the fun in funeral of football
I very rarely leave early but we're just so dull to watch I found it hard to want to stay and the lack of urgency after their second killed any slight enthusiasm which remained. Leaving at 80 meant I was on the M5 within ten minutes of reaching the car so at least there's one positive from the day
Interestingly I was stood next to Leeds fan today and he seemed to see all the things most fans they do. Take risks with possession in the wrong places, not good enough to play this way and lack urgency.
I've mentioned this before but something which really pisses me off with this team (happened a lot last season too) is how often players appeal for decisions to the ref while the ball is still in play. Whatever happened to play to the whistle? At one point today Lallana spent a good 5-7 seconds chasing the ref screaming at him for a decision while Wolves simply progressed through the space he left. It was absurd. Boils my piss tbh.
Why SR think it's worth sticking with a manager whose ineffective philosophy is this is the bigger head scratcher for me. Or maybe they'll twist?
