Is now a good time to have a review of the new cl format?

We are now half way though it.

First what I see is no real shocks in the top 24 bar psg not being there yet.

Second I see some sides not being too bothered just yet and hitting 6 points rather than 12 like they would in last years comp

Thrid some sides are getting results like celtic which mixes it up.

Fourth the super league nature is a massive turn off for me personally. Last might arsenal played inter and I think atletico played psg but I really couldn't care less are nothing was really riding on those games.

5th. The top 24 means sides like celtic, losc and brest (who are doing really well) are.going to end up cannon fodder in the "last 32'

6th. Yes it can all turn around and sides doing OK now may well fall away depending on how hard their fixtures were.

7th. If we top the group I am going to claim we won the super league and whoever winds the post season cup is just a cup winner.

    I like the new format.

Teams like Celtic stand a much greater chance of progressing while we get to watch lfc play against 8 diff sides compared to 3. Offers much more variety.

Yes in theory there’s a lot less jeopardy as you only need to finish too 24 to potentially get into next round so even if have a shocker of first 3/4 games still time to go through.

No one dropping into EL is brilliant and doesn’t devalue that comp.

Teams in pot 4 who would normally end with 0-3/4 points stand a chance of getting up to 6/7 with their home games against other pot 4/3 teams which gives them greater experience, more money and potentially make them more competitive going forward.

Yes it's a good point that no drop outs ruining the europa league is good.

I do think it's highly likely that the teams from about 8 to 16 should whack the teams from 17th to 24 and the usual suspect will be there in the last 16.

I do find I've even less interest in other games now as even of thry are a big name gsme there's no real issue. I assume by game week 7 this will change and thry might be more interesting

When I first heard that there was no Europa parachute I said I approved of that, but I'm still not sure of the format overall. I think I'll wait to see how it goes for a while yet.

I'm not sure yet what I think of the new format. When you're winning everything's rosy.

Jones called up to England squad again. Hopefully doesn’t have to withdraw this time - well deserved. Been really good last 18 months.

I'll never understand why clubs like Spurs don't take the EL or ECL seriously. I mean Spurs are unlikely to finish in the top4 so why not go all out to win a trophy

    All about attitude.

They are fixated it seems.on a league cup (which they won't win)

They seem to think thry have to manage their squad but lfc would do the same but still win in those comps.

It's just that lack of winning mentality.

Spurs are still on 9 points in the super league division 2 (we need to start seeing this for what it is) so they will be through anyway.

Man utd got one win and are on 6 points an in the top 24.

This is what I mean by the format having zero jeopardy I'm waiting to see if game week 7 and 8 is any better but I suspect sides with the easiest games in the end will leapfrog up the table.

In our hands now. As always all a team has to do is keep winning and not bother about what others do.

I will be drinking from my Hobgoblin glass so I am doing my bit
