Yes but I'm seeing 3 disappointing performances on the bounce. Like I say hope it's a blip.

That said the points we've put on the board is very good overall.

75% 45/60 passes. Not really good enough at the base of midfield. Thought he was good first half but poor second. He needs to be in a team that dominates the ball.

The bigger picture is unbeaten in 8. Guarenteed second for this IB most likely top. And that’s first half today was excellent

I’m worried about the way we sit back. And it’s been 3 disappointing performances in a row. Need to get over this blip but the games don’t get any easier.

hopefully we pick up some good wins or we could fall out the top 2

    cheers again RTB...

that 2nd half sucked the life outta me and i usually try to see some positives but right now i am not seeing any.

firstly though, excellent first half after the last two games we needed a good game and they delivered, some slick and fast play along with another two 'goals of the month' contenders, riggy's movement was a joy at times but where the hell was he in the 2nd half, roberts the same... i can understand that players will have an off day but rarely seen such a change from one half to the next.

most will disagree with this but this sitting back after we score and more so if we grab a couple of goals is always going to bite us in the @rse, we have been lucky in a few games now but that wont keep us at the top and most teams were played off the park before we park up but allowing them to play lifts confidence, thought we left all that behind with parky.

subs...when mundle went down i thought watson would be straight on, keep things the same with a left sided player replacing a left sided player and keep wilson in the middle, changing it all while under the cosh was never going to work, connoly needs a game or two when we are winning and dominating and chasing more goals so he can take his time rather than when sitting back (he is not the only one), so my first 'complaint' at regis.

ref watch, not sure as really did not get any big decisions wrong but he did have a strange way of running the game, confusing at times.

my MotM is isidor, excellent goal (worth watching again with the behind the goial view to see riggy's reaction) and some great runs, should have had two and possibly three if connoly had passed to him, a waste on the wing though.

Ref let them off with a few cynical tackles especially on rigg. Livid with that second half like, felt Coventry were there for the taking and we just sat back. Looks a poor week on reflection looking at other scores, roll on millwall.

Really disappointed with that result after being 2 goals to the good at half time. I’m no expert in formation and tactics but cant understand why he went 5 at the back when he brought Ballard on for Brown. Should have been like for like and the time to bring Alexsic on. They weren’t really threatening and that changes just invites them to attack us. Feel really flat

Most of what’s been said I agree with.

Had those 2 halves been the other way round we would all be over the moon.

We can’t rely on scoring worldies all the time, we need some poacher type of goals similar to the ones Coventry scored.

Finally my bugbear. Every time we get a throw in we lose possession, we might as well just throw it to the opposition to save time.
Don’t we have anyone to coach them on throw ins?

This is for me where we lost the 3 points definitively.

Walked back from the game and had a good think but very poor in that second half, too instructional? Too defensive minded? As if we decided to defend space rather than the man, people screaming for us to press and whilst it's not necessary to press in their half unless there's a trigger pass, I can't help but feel our reluctance to press and nip at coventry in our third was the downfall. Too happy to let them play and they did, working it from right to left with ease and getting a ball in too unchallenged really.

Additionally we are a team of 12, we were crying out for legs in midfield and if available rigg would have been changed as he was gassed.

The Browne injury forced the change, didn't have a senior midfielder or one he 'trusted', which you can argue is quite plausible considering a suspension and an injury but in the same breath it's a bit poor not to have another ready to go centre mid there to step in. Arguably hyper critical but poor not to trust aleksic at that point, considering the small wedge we paid and ultimately how shorthand we are having signed an injured Samed.

Ultimately proves my point in the other thread re Henderson, we were an injury/suspension from trouble and trouble found that midfield today. You might not want Henderson but we desperately need a midfielder with competence whose happy to play bit part to get us through the rest of the season.

Doubling down on this, the fact Isidor has to go out wide shows we're short a winger, he has to be used through the middle.

Thought Dan Neil was metronomic in the first half and wasn't in the second, showing how important he at present, or that position is going forward.
