Didn't think it was a 1-3 game but thems the breaks. We're just lacking a bit of extra quality. Nevertheless, we're a million miles better than we were at the start of the season. Definitely a work in progress and much to be optimistic about. The January window will be important with movement in both directions needed. Keep our heads up is the main thing. Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
No complaints from me. Blackburn’s offensive midfield far better than ours. Cut through them at will. Countless wasted set pieces and openings out wide. Delivery into the box was poor all afternoon but crossing in was pointless without a decent centre forward. I’m not sure any manager could do much better with this squad. Very telling that Riza made no changes in second half; plainly he saw no point in bringing on Kanga. Whoever manages the club until the end of the season will need to have a decent window.
Only 1 sub used? I know the bench options weren't great but surely in the last 10 minutes we could have tried something different? International break now so Etete and Reindorf can get more up to speed. Will Riza still be around for the next game?
No game changers on the bench Bluey. Meite put himself about but there was an overall lack of sharpness obout our play - missed Robbo big time. In the middle of the park Robertson and Turnbull tried hard but no cigar. Colwill makes himself available but continues to frustrate on times. Out wide Tanner and Willock failed to really threaten. El Ghazi was poor first half and rightly hooked at half time. Daland was ponderous at the back to say the least - looked rusty and and I never thought I'd say this but we missed Chambers. The two full backs tried to push on in the second half but there was someting missing from both Ng and O'Dowda today. As mentioned the single substitution was a surprise, but when I looked at the options available, there wasn't a lot of choice to chase the game unless Ashford was thrown on. All in all a weak performance from the players out there and unfortunately that'll rub off on the management. Finally, I've quite liked Gavin Ward previously but today I thought he was shocking - some of his decisions particularly Robertson's poleaxing were mystifying.
As we thought, with Robinson missing we struggle up front. We need a back up 9. And to quote BfB, not one of the chuckle brothers.
Looked back at their first 2 goals - like a knife through butter. Where was the tracking back? What were Ng & Tanner doing? Question marks about Daaland all round & Alnwick for their third which killed our impetus.
