I agree about Wolves' defensive frailties. However, they have goals in them - which not everyone can say.
Thought it very odd that people had them as relegation contenders, same as Bournemouth. Obviously didn’t see Forest doing this well but their side is very good compared to the relegation dross and mid table sides. Thought both would be top half, and still think they’ll finish around 8th
They’ve also set a good blueprint for promoted clubs to follow: Step 1: say **** PSR and sign 20 players when you get promoted as the team that got you up is obviously not going to be good enough in the PL Step 2: sack the manager who got you promoted as he is likely not going to be good enough to do anything in the PL Step 3: hire a manager who would be out of your reach if you hadn’t done step 1 and look like a squad more attractive to a higher calibre manager Step 4: take your 2 point deduction and shrug it off as who cares about such a minor penalty Step 5: work with other clubs who are on the verge of breaking PSR to exploit loopholes Step 6: sit third in the PL after a quarter of the season
Look at the difference in loanees. Forest loaned in Henderson, Navas, Lodi and Wood in their first season, whereas we loan in Cornet and Lesley. Now sure, the wages which Forest were presumably covering for those four would have been very high. But you can't expect to survive on the cheap. And those high wages were only for one year (except for Wood). The loan market, if utilised well, gives a newly promoted side access to players who would probably otherwise be out of their reach - whilst also avoiding the risk of getting relegated and being left with a waste of space permanent signing. Hopefully things improve over the next two months - it would be really helpful if they do. But if the transfer window opened tomorrow, I'd be cancelling Cornet's loan immediately (assuming we weren't stupid enough to not include a break clause), and be open to cancelling Lesley's in the event that we were to find someone better.
Anyone notice that since Pep said he'd learn from Martin City have lost 3 on the bounce. Coincidence?
Yep said before, Cornet is an absolute waste & although Big Les looked better against a reserve Stoke side, he won’t make PL level this year. Both slots wasted Edit: (that we can’t afford)!
