I agree mate. It's not so much about a return instead having an asset, like buying an expensive piece of art, like a Van Gogh. And just like owning a Van Gogh and putting it on public display, you can get good publicity from owning it, any amount of money you get in from owning it is incidental but welcome, no matter how small. All of it is just another small piece in making more money and making them look better.

And I do agree as well that owning the mags hadn't worked out as easily as the Saudis thought it would be. There's not the glamour of the Champions League, they can't spend ridiculous amounts on big names because of the risk of PSR, so they're a long way off winning anything. There's no love or admiration from other clubs or fans, if anything they seem even more unpopular than they were before and decent journalists are keeping on digging away at the ownership. All of that is enough for the Saudis to get bored of them, even more so that they now have the World Cup in 2034 and the sports washing program. Why waste time on the Mags when you can spend it on making you look good for the future World Cup?
