He’s a decent player dunno why our fans gave him so much grief. He’s still young and only had half a bad season before they decided he was suddenly shyte. There’s this weird belief that everyone on the pitch has to run around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes non stop to be a good footballer.
I like him, just not sure he's cut out for the championship. Technically he's a joy to watch, and he has the size you'd want, just think the game bypasses him by too much defensively He will have a cracking career for sure and I wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed with us next season (obviously depends on what league we are in)
Ok, I will try to stop posting ridiculous opinions. I did not avoid the question of his shooting. I explained earlier in the thread how I thought technique was wrong and when compared to Jobe it was clear he isnt good enough at that.
Good points mate. Particularly the bit about his captaincy and on field responsibilities. Regis has been spot on so far, and you would think the role Dan is playing as captain is having an influence on our performance to date. It would appear that way to me.
Midfield is key to this I think, hopefully Browne got the rust off on Wednesday and we can dominate, 1-0 Dan Neil screamer
Thanks RTB great as ever we all appreciate the time and effort you put into thread, well what to say about 2moro Mmm I’d love to beat these and beat them well but it’s not gona be an easy game,we’ve had 2 tricky away games and came away with a point and clean sheet in both,we need to get back into the habit of scoring so why not 2moro 3-0 to the lads COME ON
Sorry, that was out of order. I just think it's not possible to attribute his shooting to doing defensive drills or the position he's playing ... ... it's just poor that a professional player, in his twenties, can't get a shot away when under no pressure. If he isn't confident he shouldn't just waste a chance, it happens too often. Anything would be better than a wild shot. At the time we had six players in the box, the keeper was unsighted and there was a massive gap to his right. That was two points for the taking, in my opinion, so excuse my frustration. These are the 'before and after' images. As I've said I rate Neil highly and desperately want him to succeed for us and himself ... I just don't think everything can be explained away by him learning a new role or whatever. I just sense he's troubled about something.
Listening to him afterwards and watching him during the game I actually think the occasion got to him a bit. Think we will see a different player tomorrow.
I thought that too. Fair enough as well, he is human and he must have a lot of love for Preston. I think he will more than prove his worth over the time he is here. I dare say he is doing so already in terms of his experience rubbing off on young lads. I would like to see him attacking the box with his runs more. He is dangerous in those areas and will get his share of goals if he can keep getting in there.
I think you're right there mate. He's been there a long time and he reminded me of Gooch the other night. He actually passed to Preston players twice ... ... we were joking that it wasn't by accident.
Thanks again RTB for the MDT . I think Reg will revert to his tried and trusted formation as you have indicated. Too many changes one forced and 3 by choice last time did not work imo. A win will keep us on track tomorrow and If Roberts plays from the start the way he played in the second half against Preston we will do it in comfortably, at two or three up would be the ideal time to introduce squad players . OaU
Shocked that Coventry gave him the boot, what he did for them is as good as it gets for a club who were in the doldrums, he deserved to have at least one shït season and still have the chance to rebound, sacked after less than 15 games.
It's brave, of RLB, to allow these young players to 'work things out in real time' on the pitch ... ... and funny that he happily accepts Jobe telling him he didn't like the structure he saw from the stands
RLB Jobe call up - it should be interesting for us if he gets some minutes, he has deserved this reward, he has improved on many things He is a complete player and wants to improve, he fed back from his view in the crowd that the structure was not correct Patto not available - Simon did well and is a great professional We struggled against Preston when we didn't control the game it's a point that we need to develop We can't control the opponent, we need to focus on us and adapt on the pitch Consistency is the key, we continue to learn from each game Strikers - When we have many options it's good for me to manage different scenarios We need patterns, we need structure but we need the ability to create situations where we may lose the ball
