i agree, as you say jobes gait, strength and general athleticism and his game which is built on being a supremely economical midfielder, very efficient, not wasteful, careful yet creative in possession, the confidence and ability to twist out, not panic and ultimately box crash. Supreme
GAme state is definitely part of it IMO. We've been good at getting ahead. Once we are, we are relatively satisfied in letting opposition have the ball as we are generally comfortable in being able to withstand pressure. I'd certainly like to see us dominate more, but our relatively low xG is at least partly due to us doing what we need to win. Glad that RLB changed things last night, mind - even if it didn't work. He needs to expand his group of trusted players. He will need them, and I believe that there's talent there if he can use them.
Jobe is our best and most important player. We don't have anyone in the squad who can do what he does and IMO that showed last night. I'm glad that he's going under the radar to a fair extent.
I don't think he is going under the radar. They said on sky dortmund had a scout last night. Now he could have booked to see Rigg and Jobe. Not first time we have had scouts from some of Europe's top teams at our matches. He will 100% be in the radar for a few. I think they probably thought they could turn his head and disrupt him and would get him cheap. They probably realise now they will need to pay for him! He has been outstanding this season! The level of improvement is astronomical. He was a now and again man last season! I wouldn't have been that bothered to see him sold for a half decent fee as didn't think he was irreplaceable. He has been unreal this year.
Have you not heard Crystal Palace are putting a £20mil bid in for him in January, so that’s Chrissy away to one of the giants of the Premiership
Because of his size he doesnt look quick but he covers the ground well, when he gets going he looks frightening, must be intimidating looking at that lad running at you with the ball.
And don't forget the goal difference TBH I'm starting to tire of XGs and other stats ... ... it's all just a guide that's all and not a very good guide at times.
Good players out perform their xG that’s kind of how it works if you’re top of the league chances are you’re clinical and dangerous
For context 23/24 Leicester xG 85.8 - GS 89 Ipswich xG 75.1 - GS 92 Southampton xG 81.0 - GS 87 Leeds xG 80.9 - GS 81 22/23 Burnley xG 67.0 - GS 87 Sheffield United xG 73.0 - GS 73 Luton xG 58.9 - GS 57 Coventry xG 63.7 - GS 58 most teams scored more than they were expected too. Burnley and Ipswich getting automatically promoted with a significant difference this shows to go up you’re either creating a lot and scoring to match. Or scoring with limited big chances you create
Who decides the xg anyway? How don't they decide a certain chance scored whatever in the xg? Sometimes players score a goal that will be low on the xg has they do something special and other times players will miss one high xg cause they miss a sitter? Stats aren't my thing but then again neither are those tactics breakdowns people do. I watch and I either like what I see or don't! I'm not a coach I don't need to get too deep into stats and tactics etc...
Over analysing things make them too much like computer games for my liking ... ... apply XG to some players, from the past, and they'd be totally wrong. We all know players who've seemingly not been in the game then bang a couple in.
Or players that have scored a goal that wasn't even a chance but they pull something special out of the bag!
