He did - said a point was a good result. Pretty much word for word. Unhappy with the performance and lots to be taken away from it, but happy with the draw.
Agree. The lack of squad depth is hurting us at the moment - add Alese, Ballard, Seelt, Samed and Poveda as genuine rotation options then we will surely be better off. It's been largely the same 8 or 9 players playing every minute of every game so no wonder they looked knackered last night. Find a way to get past Coventry on Sat then we go into the IB top of the league, averaging 2.2pts a game. You can't ask for more than that really...
Daft thing is that had we won on Sat and lost last night it would be all doom and gloom, despite us having 1 more point than we do now . We are going along just fine and will be in the mix
Let’s look at our two seasons in the championship after 14 games 22/23: 1st Burnley W 6 D 7 L 1 25 points 2nd Sheffield United W 7 D 4 L 3 25 Points so much better than both of those 23/24 1st Leicester W 13 D 0 L 1 39 Points 2nd Ipswich W 11 D 2 L 1 35 Points only 5 points worse off than Ipswich and 9 than Leicester who by all accounts had freakish starts to the season
Probably was me, I do have a habit of scanning the crowd and never sit where I should, can’t be doing with all that shuffling along. I found a great spot, on the end of a three seat row. The fella next to me was an elderly Cockney who’s just moved home to Sunderland
I go back to what I've said all along. The most important quality is ability. Experience is a good thing to have, but I'll take a more talented young'un every time. I think the rush to congratulate ourselves over being 'right all along' about us needing experience in midfield has left us overlooking the fact that Browne is pretty underwhelming so far. If only young'uns got this long a lead while they're acclimatising
Time will tell. This team needs a striker who will score regularly. Stewart did that for a few seasons and we enjoyed success.
We have strikers that score goals, isidor is already on 4, Connolly almost got double figures last season for hull and mayenda was class at start of season Striker is not an issue any more, the last 2 games was down to a lack of creativity rather than issues with our strikers
We had seats about ten apart second row up but they were taken lol. There was a few empty on the front row just right from the back of goal so we settled in there . I forgot to take a couple of pictures
Regis Le Bris encouraged by Sunderland disappointment at Preston https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...encouraged-sunderland-disappointment-preston/ SUNDERLAND'S players were disappointed and frustrated in the away dressing room after the 0-0 draw at Preston - which was a huge plus for head coach Regis Le Bris and perhaps the biggest takeaway of the night. For the head coach, the reaction from his players was evidence of the high standards they are now setting themselves after their superb start to the Championship season.... "Now I think the culture and the standards they have is bigger," he said. "They are not happy in the dressing room right now so that's good for me. "They know they can play much better. They protected the goal and won a point but in the future I don't have to push them, they will do it by themselves. That's good for me." Goalkeeper Simon Moore agreed. He said: "I think it shows how far we've come as a group. We've gone in there and it's a bit flat, really. We're top of the league, there's results gone our way but it goes to show how hungry these boys are that they want a lot more. "From my point of view with my experience, any point away from home in the Championship is a good one and come the end of the season, you can look back and realise how just important it was. We'll analyse it, there's definitely things we can do better but we've got to be happy with where we're at and obviously we've got a massive game against Coventry." Le Bris opted to make a couple of surprise changes last night, resting Patrick Roberts and Romaine Mundle. The head coach agreed that fatigue could have contributed to Sunderland's below-par display and believes the fortnight stoppage after the Coventry game will be beneficial. He said: "It's important to recover. Some players will be involved with their national teams, others will have time to assess this sequence of games. "It's still important before the next sequence to recover so we'll see."
I'm going to be pedantic again mate and say "not happy with the draw but accepted it under the circumstances"
The fact is we might have played brilliantly, created much more … … and come away with one point. Was I happy with a point, yes. Was the entertainment worth two days off work and £200, absolutely not
Who’s said that? The only “overreaction” I’ve seen on here has actually been from the side reacting to the apparent overreaction
Bit of a shuffle yesterday with jobe out. Isidor out wide and Roberts and mundle rested. (Connolly struggled a bit. ) Considering Connolly and isidor have only recently arrived we're in a good place and should improve imo.
I’ve seen people say we’re not as good as the table suggests, we’ll drop etc etc on here and social media
Honestly I agree. Our results and performances undoubtedly we deserve to be where we are. But I think (personal opinion) that our level of performance was and is not sustainable over the course of the season. Especially as teams work out how to play us. Its why I will continue to be delighted with form that sees us grow and maintain the gap to 7th. Worth remembering, albeit the head coach has changed, this is predominantly the same side that finished 16th last season but with their best player having been sold.
