Im good enough he says. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/WTPSDetail/0,,10327~2533997,00.html Lets get this put to bed once and for all. Brett is the man to take us on,play him i say, before he hands in a request.
I agree, been saying for ages that it's clear that he wants to move on to bigger and better things, fair enough I suppose but I still think that he should have signed a contract extension with release clauses so that the club could maximise profits from any potential transfer, especially after he spent most of last season out (allegedly with a non-football related injury).
If he does go he goes, nothing we can do no player is indespensible or bigger than the club. We ought to thank him for his service and move on to our next hero. The only thing that pisses me off is we should of said back in July sign or we take the Leicester offer and force the sale
You cannot stifle a players ambition,on the other hand the club is more important than one player, even if it is Nicky Maynard, the supporters have expressed their support, the manager and board have stated continually their support, the team and staff all want him on board,he obviously is looking to fulfill his own ambitions and move upwards. The logical thing is to take the emotion out of the process, lets just acknowledge he's going, sell him on for the best price and advantage for BCFC,thank him for 4 years of service and move on to the next chapter. We have got excellent replacements in the wings just waiting to take up the baton,Pitman,Stead,Taylor and even Jackson,if they are not up to standard use any funds raised to get someone in to satisfy requirements. Rate you Nicky but it's obvious you are about to exit, good luck to you,if you by some chance stay, great but the club is bigger and better than you.
well 1 it's the sun i think he might sign the contract still but if he doesn't pitman ready to fill the gap
if he hasnt signed by jan 1st he has to go, and we have to replace him straight away and like i said i think jordan rhodes will fit straight in
The chances are Jordan Rhodes will be playing in the championship already next year, so I would think he will stay with Huddersfield to try a year with them before he wants premiership. Maybe look at Kitson with Portsmouth in trouble again. But I will trust Del to find us a gem
Of the league below.. Bradley wright phillips, Madine and Rhodes are all good strikers but their clubs will not want to sell as they are all chasing promotion. Ian Hume at Preston always looked a handful and might be a more realistic target as well as being quite fast if we were looking for a similar, alibi less good, replacement. Looking at the league above Simon Cox doesn't get many games for WBA so may be worth a loan offer til season's end then restructure properly in the summer. Stephen Dobbie doesn't start many for Swansea and could be another one for loan but they'd probably want a recall clause incase Lita/ Graham got injured. Depending of Coventry's finances Jutkiewicz might be worth a punt. Whatever happens there are options for the club and I'm sure Del will asses all options before making a decision.
Yeah of course we should also thank him for taking a seven month self inflicted holiday, for which he was handsomely paid, for me if he goes for free it would just show the contempt footballers have for the people who pay their overinflated wages. Either sign the contract or **** off, we have a player who itching for a game who's could easily fill nicky's boots, give him a run in the team and if if maynard refuses to sign stick him in the stiffs, we should be giving priority to players who want to be at this club, not players who are only interested in what their pay packet holds.
You're right, but like leicester it's down to the player, he can always say no, then he'd be free to reap a massive siging on fee come the summer from wh ever got him.
If it is The Sun bullshit, then Maynard should come out and say so. Personally I think it is true, otherwise he would have signed by now. The best he can do is score a bucket load of goals for us so he leaves with us in a healthy position. Then it will be the era of Stead and Pitman, with new protege signing in the wings. Whatever happens, we now have a manager who can bring the very best out of whoever slings on a red shirt.
What a complete load of bollocks. As I have said before, the only club that a player needs to show loyalty to is the club supported from boyhood, the rest is a career same as yours and mine. THIS IS A JOB, plain and simple and anyway, if it was just about the money, NM could probably have TREBLED his current salary at Leicester but he wants to play at the top level in the prem just the same as anyone good at what they do wants to work at the highest level. Football is the only field where we have this absolutely ridiculously childish attitude to top employees. Imagine yourself in a position where you are very good at your job, you work for someone but you KNOW that there are other bigger and BETTER companies who want to employ you - of course, the side effect of being good at what you do and being in demand is a better salary. So, ask yourself what are you going to do....? As long as you remain totally professional and give your best whilst with your current employer, that is all that they can ask of any employee and if someone bigger and better comes along, are you seriously going to tell me that you would turn down more money and the chance to work at a better level. You KNOW the answer to that and indeed, our current manager is a good example of this. In the meantime, to say that we are not going to use what is clearly our best forward asset because he hasn't signed a new contract is just plain and simple STUPID. If he scores 25 goals this year and gets us in the play-offs, you wouldn't be complaining then. Of course I want Nicky to sign a new contract with a release clause so we all benefit and if he is good enough, clubs will pay the amount of the release so come on Nicky, on this basis, you can sign. As for the 2 clubs interested, I doubt Nicky would want to go to either - Everton are skint and looking to pick up what they can on the cheap but they have no money to significantly strengthen their team to be anything other than a mid table prem team and Fulham are below them in the scale. Bottom line is that football is a business and players have a very limited lifespan, they don't have 40 years plus to build up a pension so they have to earn as much as possible to live off when their careers are over Take a look at what Neil Webb is doing now if you want a look at poor after career planning....
Just heard Maynard talking in a interview he says All players want to play in the premiership and whether it's with Bristol City or someone else we will have to wait and see. Think some Sun journelist has taken this and says he wants out!
And before any gas heads say why ain't I there, I'm stuck at home with a ****ed back so can't make it today!!
