It hasn't taken long for the wheels to come off, poor recruitment, a massive injury list with a lightweight squad and confidence completely shot. Marti is offering no tactical nous prior to or during matches. As was said if you keep doing the same thing without getting results that's just insanity. Marti seems to have been found out big-time...
Alot of the problem is that we're so light weight in the middle of the park and have 3 or 4 players who are so small compared to the opposition..... it was men v boys last night and Boro simply upped the pace when we got the goal back..... Madsen must be the most light weight 6' 3" player in the world as he doesn't impose himself on the game at all..... he should be bossing the game but just disappeared last night..... Apart from the 15 minute period when Seny (sigh) made 3 decent saves, we were 2nd best all over the park..... I suppose we shouldn't be surprised at the gulf in class given respective budgets but you are allowed to tackle them, attack them, get to the byeline and create chances, you know basics and we did none of that last night, Boro just swatted us aside.....
Not sure about the exact relative positions, but we're plainly no further on from when Ainsworth was sacked last year. Cifuentes has failed, but because the club gave him a shiny new contract, we're probably stuck with him. In the same way that we would almost certainly have been relegated last year under Ainsworth, we're every bit as likely to go down this year without some radical changes.
There's no progress, it makes you wonder about managers/coaches and how so many can fail or fall short. To me, the whole club is lost with no direction. Seems like the recruitment has been a separate department altogether. It's a complete shambles.
Hopefully untrue but i would imagine it could have been quite a hostile environment at the end of the match.
And rightly so. It was a shambles. The whole club is a joke to be fair. My money is staying in my pocket from now on. It's not just pointless watching us, it's actually boring with no entertainment in the slightest.
Couple of thoughts: Cifuentes has made some odd substitution choices the last couple of games. When Anderson came on, him and Morgan were running riot together and causing them all kinds of problems. Moments later, Cifuentes takes Morgan off! What was he thinking. That was a turning point for me. When we came out in the second half and started pressing them high and having a go at them, it worked well (until hooking Morgan). If this seems to work and results in goals, why don't we set up that way more often as a basis, especially against weaker teams?
I would be cautious about believing that. Jimmy had the decency to gingerly walk towards the fans and applaud. Some certainly made their frustration know. I saw him open his arms in 'we're doing the best we can' sort of gesture. I did not see Jimmy get annoyed or angry.
I wonder if we sent any scouts to watch the likes of Madsen, Celar or Santos play before we signed them. I mean, would that be too much of a basic thing to do? These signings could actually financially cripple us yet again.
Here's an idea, this sitting deep, defending until we concede isn't working, it's sent us to the bottom of the league, or near enough. Let's start taking risks up top and play attacking football. Get shot of the dead wood to the reserves and give someone else a chance to be ****.
What sort of crazy idea is this? We all saw the two minute highlights video on Youtube...surely that was enough.
I actually watched Madsen for about 10 minutes last night just to see if I was missing something. He is actually worse than I thought. He doesn’t defend and he doesn’t attack, he floats around touchline to touchline trying to avoid the ball. If someone dares to pass to him he immediately passes back whether he has space or otherwise. I can’t remember a bigger waste of space in a QPR shirt. Even others that I haven’t liked or rated Mackie, Barton, Armstrong or Smyth, I could see them trying
