That would concern me a bit. It would smack of Acun involvement. My mind would go back to the Athletic story about a last minute change of formation on the day Shota was sacked, and to Pandur v Allsop last season. I'm not sure whether Walter has the answers, but whilst he's still here he has to be free to pick his own team.
Or Walter has just decided that a change is needed, that playing 2 up top is the correct set up to beat Oxford, players form in training deserve a crack in this system etc etc etc.... absolutely tons of reasons why that change might happen. But don't let them get in the way of putting 2+2 together and getting 9826. On a separate note, tin foil is on sale at anlaby Morrisons
Fans love the idea of spontaneous formation changes, but Walter clearly isn't a two up front guy. He's made it very clear. He has a system and a formation, we've worked on it all summer and it involves a single centre forward. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if Burstow played as one of the wingers, particularly with the shortage we now have. But if we did play 2 up front then I'd find it hard to believe that's just Walter suddenly deciding to change his formation after being so committed to it until now.
with light of recent events id start pandur coyle, jones, hughes, drameh slater belloumi, puerta, jarvis bedia burstow But really Itll be normal lineup with omur at left wing and pedro upfront having 3 touches all game (Hopefully 1 of the touches is a goal)
Does anyone play two up front anymore? Makes you wonder if zola baggio Beardsley etc would make it nowadays maybe daws has had a word ?? 4-4-****ing 2
I think a lot of teams press in a 4-4-2 shape out of possession. Rosenior had us doing that and we sort of do under Walter too (Mehlem or Slater is often pressing alongside the striker). But yeah in terms of the classic big man, small man, both out and out strikers I dunno. Can't think of many examples.
I was about to post that the only time I was at Oxford was the first time I saw David Rocastle play for City and he was class. Then I remembered that was at Cambridge....I don't think I've ever been to Oxfords ground.
I don't think winning a game we probably should win like this makes any difference to the Walter situation. It comes down to whether we think he should be given this season to consolidate the team and his system or we make a change now and maybe get a chance at play offs and maybe save the owners a lot of money. The trouble is if we did fluke the playoffs this season we would get battered in the Prem next season regardless of which manager it was. I reckon the owner will keep Walter seeing as how he built up to be such a fantastic entertaining manager and if we beat the likes of Oxford he can justify hiring him
That was the last time I went - although unfortunately, I was there from the start. Neil Allison subbed after 20 mins. John Byrne doing taps unchallenged (or keepy uppies as kids called them these days) and Paul Moody ripping us a new one. Only highlight was the emergence of 'Letchkov'
Yes, Brampton....'Large city, twice the population of Hull, but only a distant suburb of Toronto,' was how my uncle described it.
