Other ex-Premier League players Richard Naylor and Shelton Martis will also miss the game, with midfielder Herold Goulon back from the game and on loan Aston Villa defender Habib Beye rated 50/50 after picking up a dead leg in the game against Millwall. Full-back George Friend will move over to CB if Beye does not recover in time. Saints: Danny Fox will return to the squad after being 'rested' in the win over Hull City. Rickie Lambert and Jack Cork are expected to shake off knocks received in the same game, whilst Lee Barnard will continue in the 16 ahead of David Connolly. Richard Chaplow will miss out again with a knee problem. Last Result: Doncaster: 3-2 LOSS Vs Millwall (Away). Saints: 2-1 WIN Vs Hull City (Home). Predicted Saints Team: ------------------------------------Davis------------------------------------------ ---Richardson--------------Fonte----------Hooiveld------------------------Fox----- -------------------------Hammond------Schneiderlin------------------------------- -----------------------------------Cork------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------Lallana----------------------------------------- --------------------------Guly--------------Lambert------------------------------- Subs: Bart, Martin, Holmes, De Ridder, Barnard. I think Nigel may start will all 3 CM's again because Doncaster like to play 3 central midfielders too in Brian Stock, former Saint Simon Gillett and on-loan Blackburn man Goloun. I would like De Ridder to play personally, with the Lallana out wide left and two of Cork, Schneiderlin & Hammond to play, however this is how I think Adkins will start the game. Prediction: 2-0 Saints. A repeat of the scoreline the last time the two sides met at the Keepmoat Stadium in a highly open encounter with Saints taking the lead early on, Guly with a header to answer some unfair critics this past week. Hammond to seal the 3 points for the away side with a drilled effort from just inside the area. please log in to view this image Saints in Yellow & Blue COYS!
Donny have taken a Newcastle defender on loan, though don't know if that's in time for this match. Not sure about their idea of parachuting in temporary loans instead of developing a team..must be disruptive. Going for a decent Saints win..probably 3.0 or 3.1.
On the basis that I'm not convinced that Barnard is completely match fit, I'd go with the same side again (if Barnard was, then I'd start him instead of Morgan/Hammond/Cork with Guly playing wide right). A full 45 minutes from De Ridder on Tuesday, and more than once he showed me that he definately does need to improve his defensive game. Of course if Lambert isn't fit though (I think he will be, but you never know), then I might well go with De Ridder; certainly it would be either De Ridder or Holmes that I'd call upon, with Lallana playing in the hole behind Guly.
For all the talk of rotation, Adkins doesn't seem to be a fan when it comes down to it. Seems to prefer tried and tested, then make strategic substitutions
Hull vs Leicester is tomorrow's featured game on TFLS (play-off head to head, and the quick return of Pearson to the KC Stadium)
Heard on Twitter that someone spoke to Lambert today and he is still injured and hasn't travelled, whether it's true or not remains to be seen but i hope not! if we have Lambert 2-0 win, without him a 1-0 win.Either way i'm happy!
Yes, I think this will be a draw. Noone has mentioned Lambert all week (a bit like when Lallana was injured).
Not sure if Fox will return from injury or not (Pelvic Problem) likewise with lambert, Adkins doesnt say but I'm going to do my team without Lambert anyway Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding De Ridder Hammond Cork Holmes Lallana Guly SUBS: Bart, Martin, Schneiderlin, Barnard, Butterfield/Reeves oh, and i have a prediction of 3-1 saints
