I’m playing devils advocate here but what happened to the world during the time he was president? As far as I can see it was a fairly stable place during his tenure.
I find it quite frightening that people can so fanatically defend, and vote for, 'characters' like Trump, Farage, Boris, etc, because they have what they see as charisma. Hitler fits that mould perfectly and there are still those who defend him and ignore all the facts. All racists imo which may be the greater part of the appeal although their supporters would always deny it. Trump is dangerous because he refuses to accept he's lost even when he clearly loses. If he 's found guilty the trial was rigged and the court corrupt, if he loses the election it's been fixed, if he assaults a woman she was asking for it. I love fanaticism in football but hate it in politics, more so in government. I don't see any difference in Trump or Putin or Johnson who clearly admire each other and think they're the big boys who everyone must believe. Seeing Boris laughing about his jolly phone call with Putin, over the invasion of Ukraine, was sickening. It reminded me of Trump and his cosy chats with Kim Jong-Un about 'chilling on the beach' and building condos on the shoreline. I suppose I'm as guilty as anyone, I've no real idea about Harris's policies or ideals ... ... I just can't bear the thought of seeing a bloated coiffured liar strutting around like an Emperor.
What concerns me mainly are his comments on Ukraine. However, the effect on women's reproductive rights are a very large concern too.
My problem with Trump is that he really, really wants to be respected and seen as a great world leader. So he cosies up to Putin who runs rings around him. When Putin invaded Ukraine Trump said “He’s changed. He wasn’t like that when I knew him.” Actually Donald he was. You’re just too stupid to see it. Trump gave Kim Jong Un a great photo opportunity with the leader of the free world. The free world watched and said “wtf?” Perhaps Trump is the best person to shepherd in the new world order, where China, India and Russia build new empires and USA and Europe become irrelevant. It’s all rather depressing. I’m not sure Harris is much better mind.
The more I see of how the world is going the happier I am to be closer to death than birth ... ... we're making no progress at all, in any aspect of civilisation.
I just do not understand any man having any say on what a woman does to her body is safe, controlled situations. Gives me the ****ing creeps that people would be against it.
Absofuckinlutely. And the bit where they consider surgery for an ectopic pregnancy to be a termination, so women face a choice of bleeding to death or breaking the law. ****ing barbaric.
The aftermath of this election will be worth keeping an eye on if the Fat Orange Moron loses. It genuinely could lead to some kind of civil war. Never known a country so divided as much as the States are right now. Its so hard to believe that millions of Americans actually think this egotistical, narcissistic, racist bigot is the man to lead to free world.
I cant understand how Trump is able to continue to run for President. Off the top of my head.... -He has a criminal record (with others hanging over him I'm led to believe) -During the televised debate he called out immigrants for stealing and eating pet dogs, and it was true cos he saw it on the internet. -He said that the only way he loses is if the Democrats cheat. Basically stating that his opponent(s) is capable of cheating. If any budding Prime Minister in this country was linked to the above they would be finished.
He's also loaded the guns of the fanatics by stating the media are bloodsuckers pumping our fake news and trying to rob him of the election ... ... I really wouldn't want to be a journalist, on the streets, if he's sacked off again. If there's bloodshed he'll 'do a Farage', shake his head and deny any responsibility. These people know what effect their rhetoric will have on stupid people but act the innocent without a shred of shame or decency. If Trump wins I'm avoiding the news channels and retreating further back into my daft little bubble.
Again, playing devils advocate he only has a criminal record because the powers that be were determined to give him one. That was fairly obvious right from the beginning. Like everyone involved on every side in high power politics none of them are squeaky clean.
Absolutely terrifying living here at the moment. Terrified for my kids too. Daughter in Texas, son here in North Carolina. I want Trump to lose badly but the ramifications of that are very scary, even more so than last time! Trump wins and he will come after his enemies, if he loses his goons will be out on the streets. I’m no Harris fan, especially her lack of stance on Israel, but she is smarter and much more level headed than Trump. Basically the democrats have moved to the right and become neo-republicans and the republicans have moved to the right and are becoming fascists (with a fake-religious agenda). We are headed back over to UK on Sunday, my father in law just passed and back for his funeral, wish we could have traveled yesterday!!!
Can’t agree. There is plenty of evidence of Trump’s crimes. He is partly not in prison because of the joke that is the Supreme Court, who were laughingly elected, or bolstered by the Trump government! If Trump hadn’t been who he is he would be behind bars.
Maybe you are too close to the action to give a truly objective assessment. I don’t know. As I said, none of them are squeaky clean. You could say the same about any number of them, be they Republicans or Democrats, Labour or Conservative, ALP or Liberal.
If Trump is elected then the Americans are thicker than I thought. But if Harris is the only alternative
And maybe you are too far away to see all the things that have happened over here. He still stands there and calls the thugs that smashed their way into the Capitol building martyrs and hostages! And calls it a ‘day of love’ I don’t go by the media, I go by the live footage and the words directly spoken by the orange oracle!
Great post. if you want to read a book which sums it all up, I would recommend Autocracy.Inc, by Anne Applebaum.
