Had him on ignore for ages, his nonsense and pathetic wummery just got on my nerves after a while, let alone his negativity. I guess he tries to be a "character" and get a reaction, but to do that there has to be some charm to it, or just everyone will get rapidly sick of it.
I like Monty. Always have. Don't really understand why other people don't. He's preferable to the Negative Nellies who claim to be the font of all knowledge and then disappear when they're proved wrong.
That’s the most frustrating thing, we’ve dropped points against two poor teams who we are undoubtedly better than. Plymouth were better on the day and deserved the win but we were the better team until Jobe was sent off yesterday. Looked like one of those that we weren’t at our best but we’d nick a goal. We never looked like conceding really.
There’s nothing wrong with Monty mate, I honestly believe he doesn’t know what he’s saying himself most of the time.
I am not surprised you have found that. I watch him and think he is a player that makes so many contributions to us. Whether it be attracting players to him that creates space for others, winning free kicks or juat carrying us up the pitch. I always remember Mowbray talking about how many assists for the assists he got. Jobes header recently was a great example. Cross in by Hume, but the piece of play by Roberts to give it to Hume was unreal.
Can I add how well Hume played yesterday, put some lovely crosses in and got stuck in. It really is a treat to watch these lads giving everything for the club. Roll on midweek
Roberts and Neil seem to divide opinion the most. I wonder if it's down to frustration that they are not too far away from being the bees knees. If they just add this to their game or correct that, etc. Neil and his shooting, Roberts and his final third decisions for instance.
I was really surprised we signed Poveda to be honest. I know we have a habit of picking up players who may have lost their way, much like Roberts, but I never really saw him as someone who would fit how I assume we wanted to play. That pressing fast transition style doesnt suit him. Roberts is having to work harder than ever to play in the system at times. I thought we would have gone for more of a Mundle type, i.e. very quick and direct with an aggresive side to his play. As much as I like Roberts, and I really do think he is playing well this season, I think somebody with more pace and direct running might be an upgrade we could make in Jan. To have genuine pace on both sides would make us even more of a threat on the counter.
You could well be right mate. But then, every player in our squad has at least one weakness they could improve upon. I do think though we all see players downsides quicker than upsides at times. Our memories seem trained to remember thr stand out moments, which are either moments of quality or mistakes. The 90% of football which can be quite hum drum is easily overlooked.
To quote the Mags, 'All we want is a team that tries' ... ... every single player tries in this team, not always successfully but I'm proud of them.
This. I don’t expect us to win the league but I’ve seen people saying they’re expecting us to fall off. not saying it can’t happen but a few reasons I think it won’t and it’s signs to be hopeful: - Everyone on the pitch is fighting for each other, everyone coming off the bench is fighting. The whole squad love each other you can tell. - Defensively we’ve been immense and the off the ball shape is fantastic. You don’t forget how to do that. You go through patches where you miss chances and don’t score but you don’t just forget how to defend. - Over the 13 games we’ve been relatively consistent bar the odd blip which is going to happen in a 46 game season anyone who thinks we’re going to win or dominate every game, even against the **** teams just isn’t realistic. - we’ve got a lot of players returning from injury and a January transfer window to go there’s a lot more to be positive about to
Our defensive shape and discipline is brilliant, that will win us points when we don't quite fire going forward (as it did yesterday) It might not be pretty at times but we are becoming incredibly hard to break down and it will frustrate teams. Then when it does click going forward we look so dangerous and play some lovely football. Credit to the coaches and also the players
Hume is a strange one. Said a few weeks ago that he was the one in the back 4 that maybe wouldn’t are the step up, and he’s played superb ever since!!
Seen bits of the game yesterday. I'm happy with the point....one of those days type of thing but we got something out of it which is a sign of a very good team when all not going well. We are still the team to catch and setting a hot pace. Just got to keep looking forward. Preston is certainly winnable. We are more of a threat when the output from the two wide players is better. Roberts although playing better you can read him like a book so easier to play him. Mundle has gone in his shell a bit....maybe due to the earlier success and getting double marked...he's young enough to work it out. Would be nice if we had an option from the bench for the right winger to have pace to beat the full back on the outside rather than cut inside. Can't have a post without a bitch and moan.....lol. Onwards and upwards....HTL!
Ridiculously busy weekend, just settled down. A decent point yesterday but I’m convinced Leeds piss this league eventually. I’d still be content with play-offs. Were solid at the back and won’t concede loads but we just don’t dominate teams. The bench was really weak too yesterday imo.
