I'm not sure there is anybody on the grid close to Max ATM. Hamilton and Alonso in their prime. Nobody else is close imo.
At 25 (on the 13th Nov) he should be at his best. His starts are a flaw, his tactical needs improvement. He really should be in the lead here. Max is 2 years older.
There are so many investigations happening after the race it will be midnight before we get the official results.
He's lacking that ruthless streak I feel. I think it's fine to be who he his, but once the lid is one, he's just gotta bring it. Look at somebody like Mansell for instance. Two different characters in and out of the car.
Despite everything I'd still consider Norris to be the 3rd best driver right now with Leclerc the only one I'd bet on to get closer to Max. Problem is that neither of them are anywhere near Max.
Having read this again Ched . And combining that with my amazing powers of deduction , I am sensing that yes , Alpine might just overtake Williams in the WCC
Agree on the lack of ruthlessness. Leaves the door open too often. Max is too aggressive but he has the spirit of a world champion which Lando doesn't. He's quick at times I'll give him that. Has a mistake in him though. Needs to toughen up. Too nice.
Next year should be interesting. Sainz out for Hamilton at the moment looks a poor move, but who knows.
