He loves him, apart from his injury record. Reckons he would be right up there without the injuries, he’s clearly not bothered this season though going into the last year of his deal
Just seen a few reply’s - could have very easily been given. Definitely wasn’t in control & took Archer out completely.
Only saw the first half and highlights of the rest but my thoughts: Lallana is our best player by some way - hope he stays fit. Arma was crap on the right (not entirely his fault) Dibling and Arma either side of Archer is dangerous 5 at the back at still crap We should be on 9 points, but a win is a win!
Great to have a quality keeper in goal again. Saved us numerous times. Happy that Armstrong got his goal, yes he is shocking at receiving the ball wide and turning and facing, yes he can't cross to save his life. But what he can do is exactly what he did last season and what he did today. Run unmarked into the center of the box and finish with power. As a cf he is too easily marked and not as good as archer at receiving the through ball. On a seperate note. How many people are happy with fernandes over alacarz. Both hot headed but fernandes looks less likely to get sent off after a first yellow and less selfish when through on goal.
I thought that looked like a relegation battle today, a couple of nervy teams, getting stuck in and scrapping for the win. I said the other day we've been unlucky this season rather than just poor, well today we got the other side of the coin. We are 2/3rds of the way to being good I reckon and the potential is there for us to get that last 30%. We need to become 'dangerous' and 'threatening' to use commentator parlance but really that means knowing when to slow the play down and when to be front footed and direct. I am really happy with the squad of players RM has at his disposal, I do like to watch KWP, Dibbling, fernandes, Suagwara, ramsdale. Quality players all (tho suagawara still a liability in our third at times). I was really pleased for Arma and Suga for the goal, fantastic movemet by Arma and great awareness and quality ball from Suga. Hopefully we see more.
I know this is a negative way at looking at it but I can't help looking at the wins we should have definitely had against Ipswich and Leicester and think what if? Realistically we should be out of the bottom 3 but this league is so unforgiving. It feels like if we don't beat Wolves we will still be in a shocking situation due to the fact we face Liverpool, Brighton, Chelsea, Villa then Spurs after that. Probably another 5 losses right there.
Yeah we're still almost certainly going down and yesterday doesn't change that imo. Wins will be rare this season though so have to enjoy them when they come.
Something I forgot to mention yesterday but I still think we look rather unfit as a team. Don't understand how we can be lacking in such a basic, especially when we know we lack quality in this league.
Just watched that challenge on Archer again, that could have easily been a red. Dyche never bitched about that.
It's one of those where I think VAR stays with the on field decision. Not clear enough to get involved.
We do, and that's shocking. We have Championship level fitness, not PL level, and that desperately needs addressing. Just reading Grand Old Team, and they cannot stand Dyche.
I definitely think we're in a mini league of 6. Results have been mixed so far (DLW) but should have been WDW at least in the 3 games against other teams around us. The lack of draws we're getting is a bit of a concern. If we had picked up draws against Newcastle and Leicester like we should have done things would be looking better. We're not going to win a huge amount of games so we'll need some draws.
Agree, but unless the result today boosts up confidence (which is should, tbf), it feels a little bit "paper over cracks". It wasn't a great performance, and it still does my head in that despite dominating possession once again, we make so few chances and have so few attempts at goal. That whole "the reward outweighs the risk" thing that RM goes on about regarding the style, just hasn't and doesn't work out in reality. We've scored the fewest goals in the league so far this season.
Agree with this, nothing has really changed in terms of my expectations of the season. Buzzing for Wolves next week though, they're not a happy bunch at the minute so if we can start well and take the lead then I can see the crowd turning. Back to back wins will mean we should beat Derby's points total at least.
