It’s in a very similar vein to the Churchill one that I’ve always liked: If you’re going through Hell, keep going.
She’s still sitting there, in the dark, on her own. It’s been a month now. Ignores the door when we knock on it too, we know she’s there because we’ve seen her arrive on our ring doorbell. Should I just keep leaving her to it? What would everyone else do?
A note through the letter box? Saying call on you if she wants to. Or just that you're thinking of her. Maybe she doesn't want anyone to intervene. Grief is a very personal and individual thing.
Very sad that's still going on but credit to you for showing such concern. I'd probably involve the Police at this stage, have a quiet, discreet word with them?Maybe they'd send a couple of W.P.C's round to see if she's O.K? What's the situation with the house, was it owned outright, was the woman the executor etc?
This is the thing, I don’t want to encroach on her and she’s twice my age too so it will be odd trying to counsel her. It just doesn’t seem like rational behaviour to me, she’s cycling 5 miles each way, in the dark, often in poor weather, just to go and sit in an empty house, in silence on her own in the dark without any lights on. Maybe for the first couple of days but not after a month. This is an altogether different story. He had no close relatives, never married, no kids, no siblings. We believe no will and therefore no executors appointed. The postman has been delivering that stuff to me, as his house is obviously empty and abandoned as far as he’s concerned. I haven’t done anything with it yet other than try to catch the woman when she leaves or arrives as I have no idea where to direct it all to. He’s from a typical local family that’s been in the area donkeys years though so has lots of cousins and distant relatives who are likely to come out the woodwork and fight each other for a slice of the pie, as he owned the house. That’s going to be a huge old mess for whoever has to deal with it.
Yeah that’s cos Rolls Royce are tied up being made by outdated methods from the 1920’s because there’s too many levels of management to progress modernised process improvements through for them to bother.
Not because it’s a quality hand made product & not mass produced? Anyway you are totally missing the intent of the post…….
Takes a lot of guts to come out and pour you heart out like this. Hopefully his demons are behind him and he can push on with his career, there's a player in there, hopefully he finds it.Good luck to him.
Good luck to him He spoke very well Unfortunately it’s a recurring condition Hopefully the support is ongoing in the community as he needs it
Wow, powerful stuff. Hopefully he ‘saw the light’ early enough in his career to save it. I do wish we’d taken a punt on him.
Sadly, I expect it was us deciding not to keep him that finally pushed him to seek help. I wonder if all the bruised toe stuff was just a smokescreen.

I don't suppose the chants that the crowd sang to him helps either? I don't know where people stand on that really. It's ok being all sympathetic on here but many still chant things like that to him. Where do we draw the line?
I am not aware of any negative chants against him. Yes he was unbelievably frustrating but I think we also sort of suspected something else was going on?
