    He plays three at the back using wing backs by the way, hardly ****ing rocket science.

    To say he's AVB 2 just because he comes from Portugal is beyond cliché.

    How's about he's Mourinho 2 instead?

    If we wanted the manager of the top club in a tin pot league we may as well have gone for Brendan Rogers. Amorim's career to date almost exactly mirrors that of AVB who, having won everything there was to win in Portugal, moved to Chelsea only to find himself sacked after ten months. I'll judge Amorim after a year or so, not before he's even sat in the United dug out.

    Amorin's record is **** all like AVB . Not even close .

    Villas Boas had one season at Porto and was a flash in the pan appointment by Chelsea. Amorin has been at Sporting four seasons. Which I've already pointed out.

    At least get your facts right, you're just spouting unfounded ****e otherwise.

    One season as apposed to four.

    But yeah, exactly the same

    Of course, because I have a different view to you, I must be in the wrong. I forgot how this works. The truth is nobody knows how this is going to go but we seem to be the only global club sourcing managers from the farmers leagues instead of investing relatively little money, compared to players, in securing the very best managerial talent. Time will tell.

    You are wrong though.

    It's not the exact same record. Ergo, incorrect.

    You say you'll judge him after a season but you are literally judging him now, based on false information.

    Just give the bloke a chance for **** sake.

    I'm not judging him, how can I, there is nothing yet to judge. I am merely expressing an opinion, my opinion as to whether this is a good or bad appointment. Can you see PSG, RM, Bayern Munich, Barca, Juventus or any other top table club recruiting their manager from a lower league - no, none of them, they all go for the cream of the crop. Amorim, in my lowly opinion, is a mistake.

    Indeed, Aberdeen at that. Not Celtic or Rangers, after having just had a good season in a two team cartel.

    Risk and mistake are two different things and it doesn’t matter who gets the job, the risk will persist. It’s rather irrational to label a manager who hasn’t even met the players mistake.

    Even with hindsight, ETH was also the right manager when he was hired. He had all the right attributes and I thought the club did their due-diligence before bringing him on. Amorim, however, will be starting with an arguably better squad, better structure, and with lessons learned to reduce the likelihood of the mistakes made by ETH.

    Having a look at back at the summer and the signing of Zirkzee, it looks like he was a Dan Ashworth proposal.

    This is Ashworth, the bloke we absolutely had to have as sporting director and was put on gardening leave by Newcastle until United paid compensation.

    This is the bloke who, I quote, said;

    "Joshua is an outstanding talent who is ready to make an impact for Manchester United. His ability and desire to grow into a world-class player means that he will be a great addition to the squad that we are building for the exciting season ahead and beyond.
    "Having already achieved a significant amount in his career, we will provide Joshua with the perfect platform to reach the next level under the guidance and support of Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff. We look forward to seeing Joshua thrive at Old Trafford over the coming years."

    This worries more than anything, that this bloke has identified Zirkzee, who is the most patently out of his depth signing I have seen for a long, long time. And that includes Antony. This bloke is overseeing recruitment.

    I don't think there is a manager out there who could make a proper player out of Zirkzee, or defenders out of Dalot and Lindelof. These players are three of about half a dozen in the 1st team squad who are simply not good enough.

    I'd say the most crucial things for Amorim in the immediate future is getting Shaw and Yoro fit.

    Yoro should soon be back in full training but Shaw is surely a busted flush. He hasn't been fit for more than a few games for the last couple of seasons - we have to accept the fact that his best doesn't come consistently enough and strengthen in his position from elsewhere. At his best he was superb, a great foil for Rashford but those days are gone.

    We need to get rid of Shaw. You can’t count on him to get ten straight games. That forever hope of waiting for him to return hasn’t been helping the team. I was particularly p!ssed to discover he actually got on the plane to Euro 2024, only to destroy his chances of getting himself fit for the club that pays him for doing fk’all all these years.

    I agree he needs to go, but he also needs to see the season out and be there short term. He can then be replaced in the summer.

    He needs to be fit for Amorim to play him as left wing back, Mazaroui on the right, De Ligt, Yoro, Martinez the back three I'd think.

    Neither Dalot or Mazaroui are suitable to play as a proper left back.

    Just going back to this, we enter yet another 1st team, squad, let go period for yet another manager.

    It would appear that Amorim is an advocate of a back three (which I'm quite chuffed about as so am I, I think it's great way to play attacking structured football), which means we need fit wing backs and way fewer 'wide forwards' that we've compiled since the club became obsessed with playing 4 2 3 1.

    Anyway, out of the current squad playing in his preferred 3 4 3 formation, this is how I'd see the line up;

    __________________________________________________Onana

    _______________________________Yoro_______________De Ligt___________Martinez_________

    __________Mazaroui______________________Ugarte___________________Mainoo____________________________Left Wing Back (Required)

    _______Fernandes (at a push, but new required)_________________________________Garnacho___________________________

    _________________________________________Hojlund(but additional No.9 required)______________________________

    Of that line up, we need a new striker and someone to play off the right. I don't think Fernandes gets in anymore, and there won't be a 'Number 10' role for him anyway. He becomes squad or leaves.

    The rest, of the established squad players so not including current up an comers (like Collyer, Wheatley etc.), would be largely get rid;

    Casemiro - get rid end of season.
    Eriksen - get rid end of season.
    Rashford - get rid.
    Lindelof- get rid.
    Dalot- get rid.
    Zirkzee - get rid.
    Maguire - keep for squad.
    Mount - get rid.
    Antony - possibly squad, but probably get rid.
    Shaw - get rid.
    Malacia - get rid.
    Amad - squad.

    Pretty damning.
