I actually did think the first half was all bark no bite. Said to my wife that we were lucky Pompey were **** first half. They turned up second and low and behold here we are
Hull City manager Tim Walter speaking to BBC Radio Humberside: “We lost two points to be honest. They didn’t have many chances just from set pieces. But unfortunately if you don’t score you have to be satisfied with one point, but it is two less for us. “Our crosses are not good enough or precise enough and our shooting as well - especially in the first half where we had two or three situations. We didn’t hit the target. “We can be more patient especially in the first half but we have to learn and adapt and especially against such teams you have to win.” Portsmouth manager John Mousinho speaking to BBC Radio Solent: "We wanted to stay in the game in the first half and make it difficult for Hull and I think we did for the most part. I was frustrated with the goal but apart from that I think Nico [Schmid] only had to make one save. "At 1-0 here we felt even going into 60 or 70 minutes we’d be OK but as it turned out we got a couple of bits of detail right from the kick-off and ended up scoring. "From then it was one way traffic and we definitely should have won the game but the performance level was brilliant. "The big challenge now for us is that we react on Tuesday as if we lost the game and get after Plymouth."
I'm not normally that critical of our performances but I'm not seeing the improvement promised. Where is the exciting football promised. I don't know the actual stats today but I reckon Pandur had as many touches as many on the pitch, what's all that about? Second half was abysmal. As for Tim's after match interview he is losing it with the fans.
Maybe i read too much into it But tim being critical of the fans is probably better than usual He seems to indirectly criticise his players often Dont see that usually from managers
I don’t particularly disagree with Tim’s comments to be honest - yeah he got a bit bitey part way through but he’s probably narked off after the game. Regardless, Acun won’t give him a whole season if results dont improve. I feel like he needs to try something different but what do I know. Rosey never tried anythint different, neither did McCann or Shota or most managers.
Agreed. And I admit to singing away but never at home. I'm in E10 so nobody makes any noise there and I quite like to switch off and watch the game in a different way to when I go away, where generally I am tanked up and pay less attention to the details and more likely to join in with songs etc. If the club want to create an atmosphere then they need to engage with fans quickly, and I don't mean the Botanic gang.
I dont mind us playing out from the back, I dont even mind if the players aren't good enough - what frustrates me is we bring pressure on to ourselves because we always play short and our single pivot doesn't allow us to get the ball forward. Second half we basically allowed Pompey to practise their press and it got them back into the game. No way this is the players fault, this is the coach staff. Unfortunately, I just don't think Walter is the right man.
channeling the Buffy geek in me..... I sit in south with my kids, it's never going to be the loudest in there, but there are those of us dotted around who want to get excited and cheer the guys on.....but **** me we need something to get excited about.....2nd half we barely ****ing saw the team save for a couple of corners and crosses near the end and it was pretty ****ing boring.
What’s not great behind the scenes, Tim and the players, Tim and Acun? I wanted Tim to be given as long as possible as the summer window was a disaster timing wise. Clearly it isn’t working, we changed the midfield with the subs today, we bypass the midfield then bring 3 subs on and expect something different. i know it isn’t the plan but id really like us to bring in a CEO or DOF. I love acun’s passion and money but he hasn’t got the time or skills to run the club in a daily basis. We need an experienced head.
