I am golfing with a mate involved with footy agents. We finished round 1 (dont ask about the golf) and we talked footy all round. I am having a sneaky pint while he is talking to family. No tfr news re Sunderland specifically. But he said there is a lot of talk about us and players being offered and he wouldnt be surprised if there are a couple incomings in Jan. He says there are more talking about our players too and we should expect some serious bids from the continent. He also said we arent considered an easy touch in terms of selling players either. Our reputation seemingly is very good. Nothing we didnt know or guess at I suppose, but nice to hear we are being talked about.
Spurs let Cirkin come here for permanent because they were concerns over his injury record, he was rated there. There were Spurs fans really upset when he was allowed to leave and happy they had a buy back. The injuries saved us there; the fact he couldn’t stay fit meant they weren’t looking, and there was no clear sign of development. The injury problems were blessing one, the continuation of them were a blessing in disguise, and the fact he seems robust this season, after the clause has gone, is the biggest blessing of the lot. He would t play at Spurs as they have the often outstanding Udogie, so it’s worked out beautifully for everyone. I insist he would get in 7-8 PL teams, maybe more.
Posted his birthday a while back. Just not a great deal in the post, not to say it might not happen regardless.
I think he is more of a centr half he wasn't that great when he first came and was thrown on at left back.
Alexandre Mendy still tearing it up for Caen. I’m more than happy with our striker options now especially Isidor but he will be a big “What If” on my mind
It's the French second tier, not exactly the highest level. Plus he's fairly old so would likely not have any resale value. I'm not that bothered tbh, happy with Mayenda / Isidor / Connolly. Genuinely think all 3 are good enough to play regularly for a team challenging at the top of the table, the challenge will be keeping them all happy! Who'd have thought that 4 months ago!?
They didn't want to sell him, he had one year left and wanted to leave London due to personal reasons, he was on the verge of signing a new contract under Mourinho who put him on the bench a couple of times but he had a spell away from football due to personal reasons and when he returned he advised them he wanted away.
Think we need a winger. Preferably a left footed one to deputise for Roberts and be able to impact games off the bench. Thinking someone with similar attributes to Mundle.
Depends on if Samed can get fit. If he isn't fit by January then absolutely. Full back is a definite. O'Nien will have to play right back against Millwall now.
re Samed there's a massive gambling on him not only getting fit, but staying fit and not re-injuring himself. I think we have to explore a centre mid, particuarly if aleksic is cotton wooled this season
Heard a rumour today, which is only a rumour I have no idea about. Neil might be away in the Jan window. Clubs who have shown an interest before are coming hard. Is there an issue with a contract here for him? Spurs are the club mentioned. I tend to think it wont happen. Not a single player can play his role. Unless we sign one. Boy how do I wish we had kept Michut, he was the perfect challenge to Neil imo.
Wouldn’t be shocked given he’s not signed a new deal yet, samed to cover second half of the season? Or they can loan us Archie gray for 6month that’ll do me
Crazy to get rid of him even with a replacement, think we're down a man as is. In regards to him otherwise I'm torn, suppose it's part of our operating model now but do struggle to get onboard with playing a centre mid as a defensive mid.
