Hopefully an actual era this time.

Must admit, he looks very promising. Hopefully he can cut out the noise and be allowed to do his job.

Could do with a fit actual left wing back for him to put his preferred formation in place, but the very fact that he has one, and that he'll look to play that way, is a plus even for a start.

    None of the the 4 2 3 1 bollocks!!

I hope there's a place in there somewhere for Ruud, but if not, so be it.

Was thinking the same thing re ruud. Especially if we play well the next few games whilst he is in charge.

If we do, it is what it is. It doesn't mean he's the right man for the job and we should have given it him, we've been there and done that ****.

Not sure what his role could be though? I imagine Amorim has his team and it's working for him so far.

Maybe Ruud could be given the sole role of trying to make a footballer of some sort out of Zirkzee, instead of him looking like a ****ing raffle prize winner.

I think Ruud would do well with some of the younger age group squads - U18's, U23's - players who don't yet have the ego to overtake their skill levels - players like that will hang on his every word.

As for Amorim, I can't see it working out I'm afraid. I reckon it will prove to be too much, too soon for him. A season or two at the likes of Palace or Fulham to find his feet would have been more beneficial while what we need now is a manager who has been there, done that. Hope I'm wrong

his back ground is not much difference to mourinho. Albeit he was actually a good midfielder where as Maureen didn’t even play the game.

It all smacks of a rush job to me. RVN was in post, he could have stayed until the end of the season with not much pressure on him either. If the bad results kept coming it would have been on the players, while he could claim credit for any improvement. The manager merry go round after May could have thrown up a more experienced, suitable candidate. As I said, I hope I'm wrong.

    This really is a 50/50.
The guy looks pretty decent in Portugal, so he could end up a success like Mourinho.
On the other hand Andreas Villas Boas was also a success in Portugal and came to the PL and flopped big time so.......
Just have to wait and see.

He'd had one season at Porto, one of the top two clubs in Portugal.

Amorim has had four seasons at Sporting, won the league twice after a nineteen year gap, breaking the Porto/Benfica hold. He also cut his teeth at Braga prior, so has actually had five full seasons in a top European league, while playing European football at the same time.

    It's not the same.

I get you want Ancelotti, but he may well not ever be available.

But it's not a rush job. How can it be, they had clearly been talking to him and others so he was the bloke they wanted and must have known he would take the job.

We've done the give an old favourite the caretaker job routine before. Three times actually, it never worked.

We've also moaned extensively that the previous lot never had a plan, and made this up as they went along.
This is not that, so can we not just be positive about it and take on board that they have spoken to a few candidates and this is their choice, not just the first available unemployed bloke, or stand in old legend?

    This is a plus, no?

The 'yeah but' brigade are already out in force and it's ****ing tedious.

Evidently he is the only candidate the club have spoken to since they awarded ETH his contract extension.

Sky Sports News understands Amorim was Man Utd's top target, and the only coach they spoke to during this recruitment process.

    https://www.skysports.com/football/...harge-from-november-11-after-leaving-sporting

I also read that someone in our new top team is married to his brother's dog, has known him for centuries........ all that sort of ****. I smell a bit of CR here in that we got to him in the belief he was going to City - we shal see, as I've said, i hope I'm wrong and he's more SAF than AVB.

What difference does it make if he was? It’s fairly well reported we approached others at the end of last season. We allegedly spoke to poch, tuchel, potter, Southgate. Rumours allegri, inzaghi have been approached .

it’s either going to be a masterstroke or an unmitigated disaster. I personally don’t think we can be any worse. We’ve chosen someone young and won things with an unfashionable club.

It’s ridiculous there are already articles written about how this is a risky decision. Who wouldn’t have been a risky choice? Perhaps God?!

Let us see how he implements his ideas. If he can create a team that is actually able to score goals on consistent basis, the rest will follow. Get the formation right, get the team performing to its strength, pick players on merit and drop them when they are out of form, and the results will follow.

AVB PTll - we'll have a mid season upturn, cobble enough results together to qualify for the Europa Conference thingy and then it will go to ratshit next season because we can't afford to bring in all the players that fit this guy's style. That's the issue I have, at Sporting he's the one who has developed a successful squad, this guy isn't at all proven when it comes to getting a tune out of an established high-end squad which is quite another thing .

ETH spent more than pretty much all his predecessors had no style and couldn’t get a tune out of anyone. It’s can’t get worse. As to this guys style I’m sure I read he played this way as ilhe felt it fitted the players he had.
