Nice easy trip to Roots Hall, and a decent sized away end that’s under cover, and always generates a good atmosphere. As others have said, good news for the Shrimpers as this will be a good pay day for them.
Looks like this is a non-televised game (for ITV and BBC at least . Does that mean 15.00 kick off on the Saturday?
Not necessarily, you can have a lot of games for Sky. When we had Mansfield around 2018 that was a Sunday 12.30 start.
According to a poster on another site, Southend are only giving us 700 for this one I am pretty sure this can’t be true - perhaps a Rules Expert like @lardiman can confirm that the away team must be given a minimum 20% in the FA Cup ?
Sadly it seems there is no legal minimum allocation. The maximum allocation is 15%, subject to approval by the Police & various safety bodies. Also as long as the 15% does not exceed 9,000. Roots Hall can hold around 12,400 fans. 15% of that is 1,860 - that would have been nice. 700 is only between 5% and 6%. So unless I've misunderstood, Southend can choose that low number if they wish. These rules apply to FA Cup ties only.
Nathan Jones planning to play tomorrow without a goalkeeper and back 4, have heard that Southend are starting with Macauley Bonne up front.
