I can certainly understand calls to sometimes switch the wingers on the fly, though I'm also not really bothered if we don't. It was the idea of swapping them around permanently on the basis of footedness that I didn't agree with.
My mistake, I thought Kamara was right-footed for some reason. Still, if Kamara is as better on the right as other fans have said, it’s still worth a punt in my eyes. Maybe Belloumi won’t suffer as much from being on the left and we’ll get a lot more from Kamara. It’s at least worth trying, even if just for 15 minutes. It’s not guaranteed we’d be saying that as we’ve never seen Kamara on the right. If it doesn’t work, so be it. It’s not like we stand to mess up our form or anything. We spent a lot on Kamara so it would be worth seeing if it helps gets more from him.
Always switch wingers at some point Gives the full back something new to think about And one winger often does better against the same full back
Nottingham's official population is around 50k larger than Hull, however Hull is unique inasmuch as the surrounding suburbs - in our case Cottingham, Willerby, Hessle, Hedon etc - are not included, whereas those in other cities are.
Nottingham's significantly bigger, there's over 800,000 in the Nottingham metropolitan area (Hull is 573,000).
I think I once read that Leicester’s boundaries were as tightly constrained as Hull. Of course if you are going to include those places as being Hull our percentage of population attending games takes a dive.
But the curious thing is that that's where a large proportion of our fans come from. So if you were looking at the percentage of Hull residents (by the HCC area) who attend City games it'd probably be a pretty grim figure. Perhaps we're a rugby town but a football metropolitan area. Doesn't roll off the tongue mind.
I never realised Shottingham was that large. I recall the campaign by HCC a few years back when they maintained that our fair city was in the top 10 biggest in England..I never really knew where they were coming from...Because the likes of Bristol, Sheffield Liverpool, Leeds etc would take us out of the top 10...However, Hull is, as we know, deceptive in terms of population because the City of Hull boundary is fairly narrow. I reckon there are about 280k in the city with a further 140k in the East Riding, all within say 7 miles of the city Centre. But if its more, fair enough. I worked in York for 14 years, for my sins, some of the locals thought York was a bigger city than Hull, until I pointed out that Hull is three times the size of York. Which just goes to show that some Brits are $hit on Geography and their own country.
Same with Sunderland. Smaller population than Hull so there attendance figures are impressive. But they have as many fans from outside the city as in it. Went there in 1971/1972 season, and they were doing a survey at the turnstiles as you went in asking where you were from. We said we weren’t Sunderland fans we were from Hull. Bloke said if you are from outside of Sunderland you are like half of the Sunderland fans who have gone in. Mind you we weren’t well represented, only 2 coaches ours and the supporters one. It showed when they came here and caused mayhem when the ones in court gave their addresses and there were plenty of them.Chester Le Street always featured heavily, along with Houghton Le Spring and Durham but relatively few with a Sunderland address.
Houghton Le Spring is like Bransholme. Stopped there before a City game a couple of times. It's not as picturesque as the name suggests.
Its got some nice older buildings But like most things built in last few decades Looks utter **** Most modern buildings look awful
No fresh injuries for @HullCity but Tim Walter has confirmed @liammillar11 will undergo his ACL surgery on 12 Nov as they wait for the swelling to go down.
One side of my family is from Chester Le Street and they're all Sunderland fans barring one black sheep who supports the 'Toon (from London now). I don't want to go down that very well trodden path, but there really doesn't seem to be that much else to draw people's support elsewhere up there, barring cricket, and the ones more into that still seem to support one of the football clubs too.
Sunderland tend to attract fans from their commuter belt in co Durham as Newcastle do with theirs skewed up towards Northumberland. It's the size of the catchment really as opposed to city population size.
Nottingham City doesn't include its wealthier suburbs like Beeston or West Bridgford. Probably contributed to its City council struggling to balance the books.
And our catchment area extends outwards. Hull to Brid is same distance as Sunderland to Durham. People always quote catchment areas of other clubs but when it comes to city only the population in the city boundaries.
