Mate, Star Wars hasnt been popular for 20 years.
There was a brief bit of excitement when Disney bought the IP about 12 years ago, but that quickly died down when they started making actual content and people saw how ****ing dreadful it was.

Only because of Fosse and him not shutting up about it for the last 8 years.
That aside it was pretty much a miracle.
I would say it cannot be overstated how unbelievably miraculous that was, but Fosse has proven that wrong.
