After two consecutive seasons finishing bottom of the respective divisions, Sunderland found themselves in League One in 2018, and they stayed there for four seasons. They sealed promotion via the playoffs, and in 2022/23 had a good shot at two promotions in two seasons, but fell short in the playoffs. After finishing last season a disappointing 16th, they started this season on fire, with new manager Régis Le Bris, starting his reign with 9 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. The promising news for us is that their two losses have come when travelling, on trips to Watford and Plymouth. Their top scorers are Romaine Mundle and Wilson Isidor with four goals each. As for us, I think a number of us were expecting to lose at Turf Moor, so to come away with a point, and put on a solid defensive display and keep a clean sheet was impressive. Now lets hope we can look a bit more dangerous going forward, and start seeing some chances created, instead of long build up play leading to nothing. I know they are top of the league, and looking strong, but we have nothing to lose, so I'd like to see us start with two up front and have a go at least. Discuss. Team news and manager comments to go up when on the official, enjoy if you'll be at HQ, and and always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Cheers Dave. I know a few Sunderland fans, including my next door neighbour. All are genuine Mackems, I don’t think non Sunderland/ County Durham people attach themselves to them. None of them can believe their current position, with a team of kids and a new manager who has had a very up and down record elsewhere. They think it will collapse. Let’s hope the collapse starts on Saturday, and I get bragging rights. Don’t know any Middlesbrough fans and somehow doubt I will drag myself down for that one,
I've got a soft spot for them too...happy memories of Quinn and Phillips setting the Premier League alight for a short period. Also, and I think I've mentioned this before, fond memories of my maths teacher, who was on the books at Sunderland as a youngster into his early twenties. He caught a mate and I, both QPR fans, doing our best ever QPR starting eleven in a maths class, as you do when you are 15/16. He put us in detention after school and when we showed up he told us not to do it again, and that we got it wrong. He then presented us with the starting eleven with each of the players crossed out and replaced with Sunderland players. Still makes me smile today...expert way to win the respect of two teenage lads.
The news, as always with Qpr, just gets better and better https://x.com/WestLondonSport/status/1852363218628334022?s=19
Hello from the SAFC side. Used to work up at Acton and had many an evening out at Shepherd's Bush. Rumor going round that our young talent Chris Rigg is out for tomorrow.
Unless you have so many injuries you have to forfeit the game you’ll be fine. Chris Brown and Kevin Kyle would give these ****s a game now.
Thanks, id tried to erase Chris Brown from my memory. I used to play football for the Albion pub in Acton, which have heard has long gone?
It shouldn't really be classed as a crazy game and that's the disappointing thing about this season. Just watched Martis pre match interview and the questions asked are the same every ****ing week. Becoming boring as ****, just like our performances.
