The guy who did that was a semi-pro player, he'd played for Hull United. Possibly part of why they now stipulate that you can't be a pro or semi pro player, and you can't wear football boots.
Well if he was semi pro then he should be embarrassed as his first couple of attempts from half way where embarrassing, hence why it was moved forward
We now have pros in the first team who can't get a shot on the whole goal from inside the penalty area let alone hit the crossbar.
I do think that's funny. We watch our strikers fail to hit the target for 45 minutes and then we get some random dad from the stand, who inevitably can't kick it 20 yards, to try and nail the crossbar from the halfway line in his gazelles.
And more of the same in the first 30mins today. Now derby have woken up and getting more into the game.
Do we actually need half time entertainment? Most are on the concourse. Lucky seat was a good one. Did anyone find the golden brick on Wednesday?
They just wanted a load of people to take a photo of the screen and tag them on social media for exposure. Was just a stunt.
Could become a regular thing. Though the cynic in me asks what a half time show in a competition costing billions to stage and featuring multi millionaire players will do to reduce poverty. Global Citizen to Produce Halftime Show for FIFA World Cup Final, Starting in 2026 By Chris Willman Plus Icon please log in to view this image FIFA and Global Citizen are teaming up to give the FIFA World Cup final game its own Super Bowl-style halftime show, the first of which will be in 2026. The two organizations announced the news Saturday during the annual Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. Global Citizen — an advocacy organization that produces entertainment events with the goal of ending world poverty — will produce the halftime show as part of a four-year agreement. The first halftime show will be at the World Cup final game scheduled for New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, 2026. The announcement was made midway through Global Citizen’s signature festival in New York City by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans, and one of the latter org’s official ambassadors, actor Hugh Jackman, as DJ Khalid and Gayle King looked on. They emphasized the partnership between FIFA and Global Citizen is not just to put on a show but to help end extreme poverty and increase access to sports and quality education for children around the world.
Won’t be much of a show. It can only be 15 minutes long. Don’t tell me that they’ll extend the length of halftime. It’s sacrosanct. It hasn’t changed since, umm, the last time they changed it so they could shoehorn more adverts into TV broadcasts. Oh, **** they will won’t they?
Don’t bet against them extending half time. Will they have goal music as well to make the atmosphere better?
There hasn’t been any at any previous World Cup including the other very successful one held there. What they do at MLS and gridiron games is irrelevant.
