Who are the bad players we've recruited this time round? BBD I understand, but he didn't cost much, and hasn't actually been played in the right position. Everyone else has been decent enough. You slagged off Archer a week or so ago, and then he scored two in two, and hit the bar yesterday. I get being pissed off with Russ. I get being pissed off with certain players if they make mistakes during games. But constantly banging on about SR is absolutely boring now. You can't just sack the owners (not that anyone with any sense would). The players are droppable and the manager is sackable, so bang that drum all you want. But the owners are here to stay. Live with it.
I can do it if nobody else wants it. Struggling to think of a memorable home match against Stoke to nab an image from though.
Because SR are responsible for all of it. The ****e player signings, the manager, the whole banging on about a bloody philosophy. The whole raft of constant mistakes that will ultimately **** our club until they're bored/run out of money. I won't go into detail on the ****e players because it's been done to death. You'll notice I'm not even going all in on giving Russ a kicking. I'm extremely against SR and since this is a message board discussing Saints I was chucking in my views. As it goes I reckon SR have got off very lightly from our fans, no you can't "sack" them but you can make your feelings known as every other club whose owners have put them in the **** have. Our fans politely clap.
Agree SR are terrible owners. They rectified their initial errors by getting us promoted straight away, but have undone that hard work by sticking with an inflexible manager and not investing in the right areas (basically not buying a goal scorer, again). They insult our intelligence with this ‘10 year plan’ bollocks. Cortese had a plan, you could see it on the pitch and through the club. All I can see is us sleepwalking into relegation.
Well, yeah we are. I dont know what the boards mood is, but I imagine it to be sleepy and lethargic. They will make a change, but only when it’s absolutely too late.
Signings: I asked you to mention these so-called sh*te signings, and you purposefully didn't answer it. Manager: RM got us promoted at the first time of asking. The Championship is notoriously difficult. Your problem is that you regard it as an easy league. Just take a look at how Luton are getting on right now. Philosophy: When we got relegated, one of the biggest complaints (most likely you loudest of all), was that we had no clear playing philosophy. FFS. If you actually give constructive and fair criticism, then maybe people would pay attention. But you just repeat the same vague crap all the damn time.
Met up with a friend who hails from Stoke and I mentioned next weeks game. He has become so disillusioned with football, especially the lack of funding Stoke’s owners put into the club, that he didn’t even know about the game. I told him that Stoke will probably win 1-0, as they have done in 3 of their last 4 visits to SMS. The other result was 0-0.
Yeah they seem like a bit of a bogey side for us at home. Along with the fact we'll probably make 11 changes I'm not sure why I bought a ticket tbh.
Doesn’t look like it will be a goal fest. Be a good game to bench Dibling as I thought he was shattered at City and I wouldn’t mind Sam Amo Ameyaw being given a chance in his position.
Signings- I didn't answer because it's already been done to death, and let's face it, it's incredibly subjective and I have a teensy suspicion you'd have argued the point anyway. But OK. Pointless ****e= Archer, BBD, Big Les, Wood, Edwards, Taylor, Cornet. Manager- they gave him a new contract before a ball was even kicked. There were concerns about his tactical ability in the Champ and how that would work in the Prem. SR have allowed our club to be his experiment. Whilst you may be happy with that. I'm not. Philosophy. I'm 99% sure I have never once argued that I wanted to see a philosophy. All I care about is winning games. I've never asked us to be a really ****e version of Man City. Again, it would appear that a "philosophy" was a SR requirement. I'm not too fussed whether you or anyone else pay attention. For what it's worth I use this board to rant and moan like anyone else. I strongly believe that SR are a disaster for this club- you don't, I'm not precious about it.
Re: Signings. I agree about Wood and Ugo. Bad signings. Taylor and Cornet both free. Decent players. It's RM's fault they don't play. Archer looks very good. Edwards one for the future. RM was already under contract, and we don't know the details of the extension. So it's largely irrelevant. Maybe it was an agreement made on basis of promotion. Philosophy, yeah I don't especially care. Look, be as negative as you want. No issue. It's just hearing it constantly all day. That's all. It's just not that important. Treat it as a laugh.
I’ve got a ticket despite memories of our last encounter at SMS. Tbh this game is now more important for RM than it would have been had we got a few points in the PL. Many will possibly want us out of this competition but right now a win anywhere is important for the fans to stay quiet. The style and result on Tuesday is important, I hope we get it right!!
I'm sure he'll ring the changes but I think he should go pretty strong (shock horror). The confidence of a decent win could do wonders even if it's against championship option.
So this from the Echo is fantasy? “MANCHESTER City boss Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Russell Martin's side before insisting he will learn from the Saints boss. Saints suffered a 1-0 defeat at Man City thanks to Earling Haaland's early goal and were denied an equaliser by the crossbar on the stroke of half-time. Guardiola explained that Southampton's gameplan and philosophy made it difficult for his players to win the ball back. Asked if he will learn from Martin, despite the retired defender being less experienced as a coach, Guardiola insisted: "Absolutely.”
I would argue that you have exceptionally low standards. Lincoln sees us (rightfully) as a premier league club. You see us as plucky saints that are lucky to be in the division. I agree with Lincoln. SR are horrendous owners for a relatively large premier league club. If we were Reading then you may have a point.
I'm actually weirdly looking forward to the game tomorrow night. I know we kinda need to win to try and build some confidence and momentum going into two season defining games (because if we don't win them, it really is game over in the PL already). But it doesn't have the same foreboding pressure of a league game, and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing the likes of Ugochukwu given another chance, maybe a full game for Cornet and Tall Paul, maybe even give BBD a go as an actual striker. Amo-Ameyaw should be starting too imo. I think something like the team below could be interesting. McCarthy Bree, Edwards, Stephens, Taylor Amo-Ameyaw, Ugochukwu, Aribo, Cornet Tall Paul, BBD
