Thought we did really well today overall. Shame we couldn’t hang on, but Pandur badly at fault and badly out of position for goal. Basic stuff. Kamara was excellent and MotM for me. Puerta was knackered so less effective - if we’d had the Puerta of midweek I think we would have won it.
I'm sure our superb home form of this calendar year will continue, oh ... The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Many of the comments I read on Twitter were absolutely from clowns, in fact, calling them clowns flatters them.
On one of the city podcasts (I can’t remember which) they were saying that Pompey fans thought he was awful on the left and came alive when played down the right. Belloumi is left footed, so I’d like to see if swapping them over would work.
https://x.com/itvfootball/status/1850243733343674786?s=46&t=TSHVi2ec35tOwwC0eddkRA Pandur throws it out, and we attack quickly. Do more of this. Less of the mind numbing bore fest at the back please.
Well another anti climax. I don't expect teams to roll over for us but I do expect something to happen which might engender a modicum of excitement. I went straight to the golf range afterwards to hit **** out of golf balls. This team/system/style is doing my golf swing no ******* good whatsoever. Is it just me that is thinking why on earth did we sack the last one to appoint this one?
He’s slowly growing into the left but he doesn’t have the breaking speed to be a byline winger. He clearly wants to be like Balloumi and cutting in. I wouldn’t mind seeing some fluidity and maybe swapping wings a bit.
Imo what we've done is move sideways with our manager appointment. We got rid of Rosenior because, his style of play was uninspiring and replaced him with Walter whos style of play is still uninspiring. I'd argue more uninspiring than Rosenior's was which is some achievement! It takes someone very special indeed to make a whole fanbase shout shoot just to feel some excitement.
It seemed like the whole point of getting Walter was more exciting and entertaining football, but a lot of the time it's not our fans who are being entertained. We are lacking service to the strikers which surely is fundamental to this entertaining football. You wonder what they are doing on the training pitch sometimes as when we get into good positions you don't feel that they will put good balls in. Millar being out now is terrible news on the entertainment front. Other than that we aren't in the relegation spots so that's good news about
Think this ultimately boils down to football as a whole. Possession based football is very marmite. It’s super efficient but ultimately not the most entertaining. Then when teams employ it and don’t get the results and it’s not entertaining it’s not a great recipe. Not to mention that the championship, moreso this year than last, is the most competitive league going. It’s a 46 game slog and every team has strengths. I’ve seen people say in this forum we should’ve waltzed into pride park got 3 points and Derby should be thankful for being on the same pitch. Derby defensively were well drilled and organised and didn’t allow us a lot. I still think we can come good all being said. If our front 3 can start being a tad more clinical
I would’ve agreed with this before the game but the first 20 minutes changed my mind. They were ****ing dreadful and we should’ve turned them over. They couldn’t pass wind, defensively they were all over the place in the first half and their defenders are bang average at playing out under pressure. If our strikers were even slightly good and if we pressed aggressively from the off, we should’ve put them to the sword. Walter can only be blamed for so much. Some of these players are absolute ****. Kamara looks no better than Longman. Ömür looks ****ing crap this season. Bedia, Burstow and Pedro are all useless. We’ve got a right-back at left-back because the left-back we paid £4 million for can’t defend to save his life and doesn’t look like he gives a ****.
I wonder if Kamara would be looking better in many people's eyes I'd we had a striker capable of putting the ball away, one today and one on weds where he put in balls across the box that someone should've scored from....also the disallowed at Norwich too....could easily have had 3 more assists and things would look different?
From what I've seen on socials that appears to be a bit of a trend for them. It is out fault for not putting them to the sword as I thought for the first 25 mins we were the better team I do agree. We need someone to regularly step up to the plate. I though that may have been Balloumi but he's being a bit hot and cold and sadly Millar is now gone for the year. I said it in the Walter out thread but I would like to see a bit of fluidity with the wingers and allow them to rotate a bit. Kamara doesn't have lightning speed but seems quite technical and wants to cut in. Balloumi does seem to have a bit of it all and allowing him to run the byline a bit may stretch. Doubt we see it like
If players have regressed this season such as Omur then surely that is squarely on Walter? If Walter was turning down a whole lot of potential signings in pre-season and we ended up with the players we did surely that, again, is on Walter?
Pah! Everyone knows nothing compares to Hull. How can this compare to a stroll beside the River Hull at night? (Was reading an article yesterday recommending a stay in Utrecht instead of Amsterdam, attractive with a waterway but not rammed with visitors). please log in to view this image
Found it difficult to celebrate and enjoy the goal too much tbh as I knew the chances of us keeping a clean sheet were close to nil
