The Bristol Rovers legend takes on his first manager role since he resigned as Grimsby Town boss in 2020

Seriously I don’t know him personally, I know he’s had his trials over the years, but some of the things he’s said about City fans I’m afraid has coloured my view of him.

He always wanted to manage city even though he managed-played for the blue few.

He sure went about things the wrong way if that’s true, with some of what he said about us fans. There’s even less chance of him managing us than Warnock getting the nod.

I rated Holloway as a manager. He is also witty and entertaining.
However, I get why his comments about Bristol City fans might be a barrier to any ‘civil’ relationship with our club.
I’m genuinely convinced it was one of those stupid off the cuff ‘throw away’ remarks that most of us make from time to time, like ‘I’ll kill him when I see him’ - and of course he wouldn’t wish anyone dead, but when you are a public figure with press coverage you don’t come out with comments like that - or you admit you were wrong and make some token gesture to try and win people over. I’m not aware he has ever done that - in fact I seem to remember him refusing to wear a City badge on The Football League Show several years back.

    How pathetic and petty.
He hates us and the rumours that he would want to manage us are either bullshit or his management intentions would be to take us as low as he possibly could before being sacked.
I think he will save Swindon from the drop, but not much more. He’s past it.

We all say things we regret, especially when we’re young. But that was beyond the pale, and as far as I know, he’s never been man enough to apologise for it.

I agree. As far as I know he hasn’t (I might be wrong - evidence please…) but it’s been so long now that I can’t see him ever doing it. It’s probably something he’s actually PROUD of to be honest.
If he can’t bring himself to apologise for that comment - or wear a badge on a TV show, then how he could expect to be accepted as our manager (where you would have to wear the badge all the time and work for the club you publicly despise) and he’s stupid as well as stubborn.

Are you sure you’re not making that one up?
Tell me why you think he would want to manage us after always slagging us off saying how much he detest us.

Yes I agree. We’ve all said them. But he should apologise.

I heard that rumour about Warnock wanting to manage us, but not Holloway.

Warnock does, you can find that on google search but not Skeletor ever saying it.
I think RR uses “away with the fairies” search engine

Swindon scraped a draw today against Gillingham.
There’s VERY bad blood between those 2 sides.
Last minute equaliser by Swindon after being down to 10 men within 10 mins.
Not a bad start for Hollowhead given the circumstances.

Holloway was appointed on Friday, hours after former boss Mark Kennedy was sacked after a poor start to the season. Swindon scored a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser to draw 1-1 against Gillingham, with Holloway watching on before taking charge of the team on Monday.

I don't knowif he had any influence over decisions on the game, I dislike the bloke intensely for how he insulted our fan base because I am of an age and felt the venom of his insult , but I aknowledge his love and care for his family and their problems, I wish the cretin well.
