Genuinely think we will give these a bit of a beating today. Hope to see a bit of Aleksic maybe 20 mins as a few on here have said he is a very talented boy.

As for the other 2 deadline day signings anyone any idea when we might see them?

And anyone know anything at all about them for that matter?

All I know is that, on balance, they're likely to be good players who fit perfectly into our system/systems. During all the time we've been discussing which strikers to buy not one of us would've thought we'd now have a choice of Connolly, Mayenda and Isidor.

Not only do they look like they have goals in them, they seem committed to Sunderland and love being here. Their combined cost is less than what the likes of Kieffer Moore would've cost and who looks pretty useless this season, not to mention being totally unsuited to playing football at our level.

It's bloody fantastic turning up and seeing some of our play, fantastic!

Definitely worry about this being a tough game after a draining game the other night. There’s a bit of me is hoping for some fresh legs in some places but hard to drop anyone. As you said Roberts back in for a home game against a stubborn side may be most likely.

Righto, truck packed and we’re on our way up. Looking forward to my first match in too long, and junior is excited ago get seats closer to pitch side to see the action up close.

I’m expecting a tight game against this lot. Hopefully I am wrong and we give them a battering, which is what will happen to my credit card in the club shop.

They're all tight up to a point tbh.

Whats encouraging is that we don’t usually sit back on a lead until the last ten minutes when the opposition become desperate and take risks. As with Sheff We’d I think we’ll play a pressing game today with Roberts and Mundle heavily involved.

If we go two goals ahead I think we’ll make a few subtle changes but keep trying to score. All of our recent games have been tight and I think we need a bit of a statement.

We also have players on the bench who need to get on the pitch and would keep the energy levels up. Watson looked a bit glum at Luton and an appearance before a big crowd would give him a boost …

… then there’s Connolly, Aouchiche, etc.

All good options and keeps the pressure on the current players

Somewhere there's a coupon buster most weeks. Hopefully we aren't it today.
Oxford will be out for a point imo. First goal is so important today.

Sunderland boss reveals points target needed to finally return to Premier League

    upload_2024-10-26_8-37-38.jpeg

Regis Le Bris has set Sunderland a 90 points target to get promoted.

The Sunderland head coach refuses to declare his side as among the contenders to win a place in the Premier League. The Black Cats have emerged as a surprise package at the top of the Championship this season….

Le Bris: “This kind of experience we are having like at Luton, shows we are linked. They want to win together. It is not only the tactical side that wins games. It is our team. The way that everyone is fighting together, and applying it on the pitch.

“We have a good experience but it is only 11 games. The season is so long. There are 35 games still to come. So the main idea is to build on this positive start. We have won eight of 11 games so many positive experiences. But we know the difference between a win and defeat is so subtle, just a question of details. At the minute we are always in the balance. It is mainly in the positive, but we need to improve our game.

“When will you know we are capable of promotion? The promotion should be around 90 points, 88 or 92, I don’t know. We have 25 at the minute. So you can assess the gap! It is huge.”

Le Bris, former coach of Lorient, says he is enjoying the challenge of the second tier in England.

He added: “The gap between Luton and Hull was huge, tactically. So different styles of play. It is interesting to discover new styles, new stadiums and new atmospheres. It is a very competitive Championship.”

For Le Bris this must be very strange, today would be virtually the start of the season in France yet we’ve already played 11 tough games …

… I seriously believe he discussed the League Cup game, with Speakman, and decided to use it as a training exercise and a bailout.

    I’m surprised Oxford are only bringing 6/700 today. It’s a fair while since they’ve been and it’s a Saturday 3pm affair …

… perhaps it’s the memories of that 7-0 or they’re worried about having their daughters kidnapped.

While I’m on, a friend in need could do with a couple of tickets if anyone can help.

He comes across as such a grounded and intelligent individual. He seems easy to like. One thing inlike reading from him is how there is always areas he has picked out for work and improvement.

He seems very clever tactically aswell. Never makes changes to the players but style and approach seems to change if required.

I was shouting for Rigg to come off, after his booking at Luton, as I didn’t think he’d last the game …

… I don’t usually shout for subs but learned my lesson there.

He talks a lot about the core players and the rest around them to come in if and when I think this is why he tweeks formation rather than personnel
