I think Connolly's back to goal play could be pivotal in this game, I agree. He's cuter and could easy win us a pen or freekick. If he's ready to go, get him in, no shame in using Isidor as a winger or even as a sub.
Great as always RTB and very much appreciated, looking at things Oxford gona be a good test for the coaching team and the lads looking forward to it especially a nice 3 o’clock start, don’t think we’ll see many changes as folk saying maybe Roberts back for Brown fancy a clean sheet and 2 or 3 for us,enjoy everyone especially the lads who struggle to get up that often COME ON
We’ll be leading 2-1 (Roberts brace) and they’ll be putting us under pressure. But we score a breakaway (Mundle) in the 98th minute. 3-1 HAWAY Bart
First game of the season for me with my Dad and Daughter. Couldn't manage to get concession tickets for either of them via the website so had to pay full for both the over 80 and the 20 year old student. Don't know why this is such a problem now when I have previously just added the ticket at the concession price and paid for them. In the lower bowl as I am less and less sure my Dad could make it to the back of the Premier Concourse, which is my preferred area.
Another cracker RTB...... I fancy a big win tomorrow, we will give someone a pasting sooner or later and tomorrow is that day, I am going for a 4-0 win and I fancy big Jobe to get on the scoresheet. Matchdays cant come round quick enough these days, I am loving this season
When family got tickets for us last time, I think they had to setup accounts in the same concession categories as they wanted to buy tickets for or something like that. It's crap. My dad being senior, and my son under 16. Not sure why the club ticketing would do that.
Injuries worse than first feared? We were told they could’ve been back for Hull last weekend. I suppose it’s a good thing that they aren’t massively needed right now
Great thread again RTB this game is a day or two too soon ideally, after our herculean performance last time out talk of the Alamo does not do it justice, and I will look out for Lutons next game with interest hoping that they get stuffed. Not that I am in any way vindictive. On that note let me say :- I expect a big majority will want to see Roberts back in, I am not one of them, my front three would be Mundle Connolly and Isidor with Rigg or Jobe joining in, as and when. All of these players have a genuine goal threat imo., unlike our dear old Patrick. PS I would also like to see Watson get 30 minutes second half, no matter what, this kid is something special. OaU .
Mayenda when first injured was told a month out. We're basically exactly at that date now so all good i reckon.
The refreshing part is the team is performing well enough that we don't need to. Mayenda was excellent and imo leads the line better than Isidor. But Isidor has done so well we don't need to replace him and Connolly looks like he could take the spot anyway. Ballard has been great since the day we signed him Mepham has been a step up! Like someone said on here the other day since he came in he could have been motm every game he has been that good!
Pre-Match Insights Sunderland are unbeaten in their last 13 games against Oxford United winning six and drawing seven. Their last defeat against the O’s came in April 1994, losing 3-2 at Roker Park. Oxford United’s last visit to the Stadium of Light for a second tier match was in 1998 losing 7-0 on Wearside. Michael Bridges, Danny Dichio and Alex Rae scored a brace each in the game. The Lads are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run at home this season winning four and drawing one. Their last league tie on Wearside ended a 2-2 draw with Leeds United before the October international break. Chris Rigg made history in the Lads’ midweek win over Luton Town by scoring his fifth Championship goal before the age of 18. Only four other players have reached the same landmark: Gareth Bale, Ryan Sessegnon, Connor Whickham and Harvey Elliot. Team News Le Bris confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Dan Ballard and Eliezer Mayenda are not available for selection for this weekend’s game. The pair are making strong progress in recovering from their respective injuries but on the advice of medical staff, they will not be risked for the game. Ian Poveda, Salis Abdul Samed, Ahmed Abdullahi, Aji Alese, Jenson Seelt and Niall Huggins all continue their own rehabilitation programmes. Founders Week The Club has been celebrating it’s heritage and traditions this week marking the 145th anniversary of it’s inception. Supporters are being encouraged to wear their retro shirts for the game as a nod it’s history and the acknowledgement of kits from the years gone by. The players will be walking out of the tunnel to the theme from ‘Z-Cars’, a long-running BBC television drama from the 1960s. It was the same theme the players used to run out the tunnel to during their playing days at Roker Park. There will also be a flag display at 2:50pm in the build-up to kick-off.
