He won't, never happening. The only potential change there was if Howe replaced Southgate is England manager, which Howe was never even interviewed for and Howe would have turned down and stayed here anyway. We would aim higher than Southgate, plus he ain't leaving any time soon, Ten Hag, Russell Martin etc will go long before Howe.
There's no way we can simply rule it out.. he's lurking for an opportunity... that's what he means by taking time to think.
How to defeat Newcastle in 3 steps. 1. Play a low block 2. Put a midfielder or attacker in the gap between NUFC defence and midfield 3. Pass through the line or over the top and support quickly on the break.
Southgate can lurk all he wants, doesn't mean we'll be remotely interested. Southgate would be a total Ashley appointment, ie unpopular manager who's free and available. I don't even know why we're speculating anyway, as Howe isn't under any pressure right now anyway. We lost to Brighton narrowly despite having far more position than them, way more shots and more chances than them. We also drew with Everton and totally outplayed them and before that played very well to draw with City. Despite the bleeting over the last 10 pages, things are not crisis central.
Chelsea away I assume we'll lose, but we've got a good chance to put the out the cup at home. Arsenal I dunno, Bournemouth just beat them at their place, so we definitely can. Fixtures are much easier after those 3 games.
Ok. I didn’t take it that way. Eddie could always just learn and get better. I suppose that’s an option.
Hopefully he can adapt things, but time will tell. Changing takes time and usually involves some ups and downs on the way, so will depend how much time and patience he is afforded. Similarly, I'd also like to see exactly what Mitchell is bringing to the party. He basically distanced himself from the summer transfer activity after the event, having previously stated that was his main area of priority. Which to me is a red flag. I get that he comes with a good reputation, but we need to SEE results across the whole club and he gave it the big one when he joined. Hopefully he can live up to his own hype. Again, he needs time and patience, so I'll give him that. But the spotlight should be on him as well, just as it would have been with Ashworth. With our finances now in a better state, I expect a BIG summer 2025 transfer window and hopefully some good activity in the forthcoming January window too. Mitchell needs to work some magic.
We're just not seeing goals from the team this season. Against lower league oppo we laboured to create chances. Isak's fitness will improve, but we all know that his fitness is fragile. Gordon's confidence isn't good. He ballooned a header for England as well as yesterday. Eddie's got to motivate this lot.
Would be good to see Osula given a decent run, not just a couple of minutes here and there. At least see what he can do.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter what we fans think (about should a manager stay or not) it's just what the board think. They stated that the aim is to be in Europe this season, so that's 7th or up, if we don't finish top 7, a cup win would obviously save him as that's what we all crave anyway. As it stands though, i can't see either happening. At this point i'd be surprised if Howe is our manager come the first game of next season. It's up to him to turn it around.
