I think you’re right, and to be clear he’d not be my choice .

But we are not in any position to be choosy right now. Not sure there’ll be many who we’d be happy with queuing up for the job

We clearly have to roll the dice and get someone in I think. If/when we do go down we are going to be in a good position to come straight back up, like every relegated team. The number of managers who could bring us straight back is very long compared with the number of managers who could keep us up.

Keeping Martin to bring us back seems mental as at best if we do come straight back we are likely to be in the exact same position now, just in 2 years time.

Southgate isn't taking it, so it's a moot point. He's having a year off, and he wouldn't go for it anyhow (I wouldn't think). Thankfully. He's an awful club manager.

It would be a horrendous move for Southgate to make right now - not that I would want him.

It’s the highest his stock will ever be - he needs to take advantage, where I think he will ultimately fail and only then should he take jobs like ours from teams in desperate position to help build his pension pot.

He’s very similar to Martin last year imo, relies on having a very strong squad to cover up his tactical deficiencies

Completely agree - I could almost understand keeping him on if it meant we would be in a better position second time round with him.

But I cannot see it at all so it would be insanity to take that route..

Not sure how much longer Potter will wait for the 'right' opportunity, before his stock starts dropping. We're not exactly attractive right now, but if we have spoken to him, and he is interested, it would be the right time to do that.

They are both brilliant at building cultures and environments where players want to be, and when you are playing lesser opposition the quality of the squad takes care of the issue at hand.

The problem they both have is, when they come up against similar level or better opposition they become unstuck due to their tactical deficiencies

Trouble is, it's not like we can promise a prospective new manager a slab of cash in January either, because of ludicrous PSR.

The Premiership is so corrupt and only benefits the bigger clubs.

If we are twisting, we need to go full out for bringing in an experienced manager like Potter. I would be very pleased with that.

Not a time to be clever with another N Jones type appointment

Top of my list would be Corberan, but I don’t know if he would take the job as with so long left of the season (if we were to sack Martin now/after the City game) then it doesnt look good for an upcoming manager if we still went down.

I don’t think someone like Potter would be interested, I’m sure a more stable PL team would have him high on their list when one of them inevitably changes manager this season

    Moyes for me.

I know its the most unsexy choice, but it's the most practical.

I can see him (or his agent) being quite intrigued by who might be calling him in the coming days (or weeks). Not beyond the realms of possibility that at least three different clubs could be looking in his direction.
