    Leeds United v Sheffield United
    Friday 18th October@20:00 | Elland Rd

Leeds gear up for the arrival of Sheffield Utd on Friday evening, with more than at stake than bragging rights.

The Whites need to get back to winning ways following back to back draws. They could go top of the Championship for the first time this season if they can win by a three goal margin (or more). It won't be easy though, against the divisions most in-form team.

The Blades are the last remaining unbeaten side in the second tier of English football, thanks mainly to their defence, who have only shipped three league goals all season - how Leeds fans would love to bring that record to an end!

Jamie Shackleton and Jayden Bogle could both face their former clubs for the first time since their respective Summer moves; as too, will leading scorers Gustavo Hamer (4) and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (2), who were also hotly tipped to join the Whites.

Daniel Farke has a number of issues which will need addressing closer to kick-off. Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka and Brenden Arronson face long trips back to blighty following the International break, and are likely to miss training on Thursday, whilst Max Wober, Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu are all ruled out until after Christmas.

Manor Solomon and Dan James have both recovered from their respective ailments, but with Solomon's injury record and the length of time James has been out, neither are expected to start. Shot stopper Illan Meslier is expected to keep his place between the sticks despite his faux pas in the dying seconds of the Sunderland match almost a fortnight ago.

Ollie Arblaster's ankle injury will be a major blow for Chris Wilder's side. The 20yo tops their 'Whoscored' rankings with an impressive 7.42 rating. Fellow midfielder Tom Davies and defenders Jack Robinson and Sai Sachdev are also expected to miss the trip to West Yorkshire.

Well a variety of predictions for this one. One of the predictions will be the correct result, if not the exact score line :)

We should be beating them at home but there are factors that might influence the game. Primarily it is our injuries and how tired the likes of Tanaka and Aaronson are after travelling late.

Who'd have thought we'd be discussing our chances of success based upon Aaronsons availability?

More likely because we’re running out of midfielders <ok>

Shackleton couldn’t even make our bench last season, now he’s lining up against us, we should win this one if we play to our strengths.

Even with all our injuries we’ll have the better players tomorrow night. Maybe it’ll boil down to which manager has the most tactical nous - and worryingly that’s Wilder imo.

He knows how to set his team up and utilises his players to their strengths.

Comment above made me check market values of squads on transfermkt

We are £173m, Sheffield only £89m. But they are still 5th top in championship,

we are 2nd with Burnley top on £186m and Luton of all people next on £101m and Sunderland 4th on £100m

The prem teams are all way higher (what a surprise) other than Ipswich who are just under £200m

Still couldn't sign register him now if we wanted too, as to be able to register players outside of the transfer window, those players need to have been out of contract before the transfer window closed.

However good news for the forthcoming January Transfer Thread, as it wouldn't be the same without a Ryan Kent rumour

Have a bad feeling about this one. The line up will be interesting as I can’t see Aaronson starting. Not too disappointed in that, as he’s still too lightweight for the likes of the Blades. Wonder if we’ll see Piroe and Joseph as a two up top? I liked Rothwell and Tanaka in midfield in the Sunderland game but not sure Tanaka will start.

If the groundsmen do their job well at half time, could be a win!

I'm not confident about this one at all but the Leeds way is generally to beat the better teams and ****-up against the also-rans so we might nick the win yet:D

If the Blades try to win this one, it'll be their downfall. We'll tear them apart. If the park the bus, we'll get 57 shots on goal & the only accurate one will be straight into the 'keeper's hands. Meanwhile, they'll run up the park after 27 minutes of added time & score with their first shot. It's the same script every match. I expect them to attack, therefor, we have a good chance .....

EDIT Forgot to say, in middle of cruise & offline most of the time. Return in November, 4 stone heavier. (Hope they've arranged the crane to lift me of the boat.) :D
