My practical solution for England coaching. Player homegrown rules are 33% of the senior squad have to be hg or your numbers are cut. Come up with some means of doing the same for coaching. (However you do it) In then in 10 years time there might be loads of English coaches.
Should national coaches come from the home nation? We're used to players and coaches from all over the world at club level, but I can see the argument for it being different at national level. Players have to qualify (although the links can be pretty tenuous at times) so maybe coaches should too - but I can't say it bothers me much.
The little englander seem to insist on it. I think there's no harm in having some rules to force these extremely well paid coaching Staff to not just be a group thst alk comes in and all get sacked (with rinse and repeat) and force clubs to have a significant proportion of staff being home grown. This would have to be very specific relating to coaches at each level. Maybe name 5 roles from head coach down and say 1 must be home grown out of 5 even. The standard of English coach training would then have to be improved by the clubs rather than just have **** coaches. We appointed slot plus anyone slot wanted and we did actually appoint Aaron briggs so that would be 1 out of 5 If we look at klopp set up really it was just the gk coach as it had been for years.
I'm not sure if I've misunderstood, but the head GK coach was Achterberg up until the end of last season. He was Dutch. And probably still is.
Inded, but I was responding to mito's suggestion on how to increase that pool, and questioning whether it was necessary.
You forgot garry o Neill. Carsley was basically pissed on by the little englander press for not singing the anthem as they don't accept he played for Ireland even though he was born in England. You.have to be a supporter of the national front, Nigel farage and the queen (not tje king) to be acceptable. Clearly Southgate waist coats showed he was suitable.
I think its odd all the talk is that he is not English but not any talk of if he is good enough for the job. My personally opinion he isn't a great manager to begin with. Last season with Bayern he didnt win a trophy something that hasn't happened for 20 plus years. All seems very strange why didnt they offer him the job back in August and why the rush to do it now. Maybe they were hoping Klopp would do it but once he took the Red Bull Job they pulled trigger on Tuchel.
Think we're at cross-purposes here. I'm asking whether it is necessary to have an English coach at all, not whether certain measures need to be taken to increase the number of them.
I have very little interest in the national team, but I watch some of the games because there's no proper football on at the time they are. Not being overly bothered about them winning, I'm looking for attractive football and good games. Southgate's teams bored me to tears, tbh - and I doubt that Mr. Tickle's approach will be much better.
I am with you in the thinking Tuchels football won’t be much different from Southgate’s. I have very little interest in international football so probably why I don’t care what nationality the manager is.
It'll be boring as **** to watch. Only positive I can think of is Tuchel will pick the players that suit his style rather than picking his favourites. Be interesting to see what happens with Kane.
Don’t see any issue personally. id imagine as a player you want to be coached by the best person possible surely?
You'd also want to play alongside the best players too, but you can't, because your a different nationality. I have no issue with it being a foreign manager but I do think FIFA should make it so you can only have a manager that qualifies for that nation, just makes more sense. Of course, sense and FIFA don't exactly go hand-in-hand though
I agree. He's a negative manager. A 1-0 is ideal type. If you are handed psg or Bayern my attitude is so ****ing what if you win a league or league and cup. I mean most managers should. It's like Rodgers at celtic. So ****ing what? Oh you won't a title. Oh good for you. Tuchel won a cup at dortmund and took over at chelsea and reversed some awful fat Frank idiocy. That cl is his one real achievement imo. Even thst he had azpi and rudiger and silva so was handed thr idea for his negativity to use. It seems they offered it to anchelotti or at least talked to him which was as unrealistic as pep. They apparently offered it well before now and carsley know it too but was supposed to play off these nations league games knowing the Job was not his. I think it just leaked out.
The best possible sure. The available option is what they got. The best were unrealistic as I said. It's still better than seeing a Potter or however who just are not up to it being handed the role.
