Does that mean my mam and dad’s old Technics system they bought in the 1980s could be worth something?
Bang and Olufsen and Pioneer were the go too in my day , at least for my mates who could afford them, My first record player was an old windy up job with a tin of spare knitting needless. a bit like the HMV,s dogs.
We are of the same era Clocky, I could never afford them either, especially Bang and Olufson, a mate of a mate who was in a band had one but that was as near as I got to one
Another record I loved from when we were 17, we used to go horse riding on the fells in the Lakes and camp on different farmers fields who I knew. Magic times and memories.
I still have a separates setup in my house. An old Marantz amp still at the heart. Some big old Wharfedale speakers. Turntable is new and I have a Nad cd player that I keep repairing. I also have a mini TEAC system i bought in the 90s I think. Still have that rigged up in my study and the tapedeck is going strong still. Cracking little bit of kit.
Still got that album on vinyl, Sunderland was a Free stronghold well before they were famous, never to be forgotten nights at the Bay and Locarno, .
Love it. I had an Aiwa setup in my bedroom. I'm sure it had a 5 disc autochanger with a double tape deck. I was in the box room.of a 3 bed semi. It used to shake the walls when the top 40 with Mark Goodyear came on.. I probably used the speaker as a pillow because the room was so small
I saw their first ever appearance in Sunderland at the Bay, there was fewer than 50 people on a wet Monday night dont think they had released a single at the time . massive following at the end tho' and what a sad ending.
Sounds like the Desert Island Discs Thread . Wasn't easy was it ? Regarding the above topic I had Pioneer gear and Wharfedale Denton 2 speakers. Like most got sick of all the spaghetti at the back and sold the lot for £50 20 years ago. Never mind..
I didn't really like them in the early 80s when they first came on the scene, or maybe I just listen to enough of their music. Maybe my music tastes have mellowed over the years, but really like their stuff now.
They chopped and changed personnel a lot in the early days. It was a bit up and down, but some real good tunes as well. I think for me it was People are People that really launched them. Still one of their best for me.
