A couple came close, an Englishman managing Sweden reached the final, but some bloke called Pele spoiled the party. And an Austrian managing Holland would probably have won, had the Argentinians not been a bunch of cheating ****ers.

As I wrote, no country has won the World Cup with a foreign coach.

A fellow German coach has won the Euros with a foreign national team however.

    I'd happily take that, frankly.

I think on a pretty basic level, English coaches just aren't trusted as highly as foreign ones. When an English coach "fails" at a particular club that seems to be it for them. Whereas foreign managers can survive that and stay on the merry-go-round. Tuchel is a case in point; the whole debate seems to revolve around him being the proven candidate who represents instant success, but why is that? And genuinely, would he be seen as that if he was English? Could an English coach fail to win the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and still be considered a proven winner? I'm really not convinced they could. For me a big part of the issue is our perception of English managers.

He won’t be here for the Euros, his contract is until 2026.

He only managed them for the last few games of that CL campaign though after taking over from Lampard. I suppose it does demonstrate a level of success in knockout football without necessarily building a brilliant team. Again though it just seems like he got the opportunity to compete for the trophy where an English manager didn't. And then in time it turned out he could make them no better than Lampard had. And then they hung Potter out to dry before realising that Pochettino could do no better either. Meanwhile Potter for some reason finds himself in the managerial wilderness.

Good idea. If he doesn’t do anything off he goes, no regrets on either side. If he was successful then talks could begin. History suggests that sticking around is not one of his traits.

Maybe Potter is waiting for a Top job as I find it hard to believe somebody wouldn't have him .

Don’t understand why Potter’s even in the frame. He did well in Sweden, not too well at Brighton and Chelsea and he’s suddenly the next big thing. Why?

They probably want a lot of money that most clubs ain't gonna pay .
Potter knew he would get enough money from Chelsea to last a lifetime

There was an idiot on Sky sports news who said if England win the WC with Tuchel it won't be an English win .

Probably supports a premier league club with a first team full of foreigners and a manager of non Anglo Saxon decent.
