Sunderland travel to Hull City in the Championship. Last time out Sunderland drew with Leeds and Hull lost at Norwich. Sunderland kept an unchanged starting 11 and went ahead early in the first half with Chris Rigg scoring from close range. Leeds then got back into the game with a well taken header from Piroe. In the second half Leeds scored against the run of play but Alan Browne’s deflected shot was completely misjudged by Meslier to make it 2-2 in the last seconds of the game. Alese, Ballard, Mayenda and Connolly could all be back in contention however, Huggins, Seelt, Poveda, Samed & Abdullahi remain injured. Hull City's week in the sunshine ended in positive fashion for Tim Walter and his players with their 2-0 friendly victory over Alanyaspor out in Antalya on Friday, courtesy of goals from Matty Jacob and Mason Burstow. Walter will have the added benefit of his squad being boosted by the return to fitness of Ryan Longman, while long-term absentee Dogukan Sinik is edging closer to a Championship return, having got a short six-minute cameo against Alanyaspor. City have a squad of 32 players and bar Andy Smith and two of his young goalkeepers (Thimothee Lo-Tutala and Harvey Cartwright), now has a fully fit group to pick from. Ex Black Cat, Mason Burstow could be in contention to start. Regis le Bris: "We are happy for the final result because I think it was a tough game against a strong team. “In the end I think we deserved that draw. "Even if the goal is lucky, for the whole balance of the game, the way we played and the way we adapted our structure it was a good point for us." Press Conference: Tim Walter: "They were a lot more clinical than us and took advantage of our mistakes while we didn’t take advantage of theirs. “We lost the ball too often and didn’t win enough of the duels and were punished for it. The lads kept going and showed a good attitude but it is a defeat that we must accept. “We must keep our heads up and remember that we had won our three previous games and were really good in them. "Today we lost 4-0 and that is how it is in football sometimes." They’ve spent the last week at a training camp in Turkey and won a friendly game. It would be great to see Connolly on the bench – he looks ready to me. I’m going for a 2-0 away win Live Stream: https://www.safc.com/live Available on Sky Sports Football (14:30) Ha’way the Lads
Say the same every week at the minute but if we turn up anywhere near our best we should be getting something, as with any away day at this level I’m fine with a point
We have a fairly decent defensive record yet posters on here are still intent on giving the opposition goals in their predictions. I’m giving us a 2-0 win.
We seem to slip up after the IB so we need to be fully prepared which I'm sure we will. Wonder what input our new coach is having? Our record there is decent so clean sheet and away win for me. HTL.
Time to change our current form for away games straight after an IB. Not so far to travel for this one, and an extra day to get prepared. Think this might be a 1:1, but hoping we get a couple of late goals for a 1:3 with Connolly grabbing a brace off the bench
This is probably the least predictable game we've had in my opinion. Hull seem to be set up as a 'you score two and well score three' outfit. RLB will have to devise tactics to counter that which didn't happen at Plymouth. I can see another Leeds type of game with Neil withdrawn. They're weak in defence and have lost their three games against top teams. We'll need to score to get anything out of the game ... ... I'm going for an exciting 3-2 win with three different scorers. Ha'way the Lads!!!
From what I have seen of Hull they tend to rely heavily on attack, if they get it right it may be a difficult afternoon, that said if we press effectively and deny them space in our half which we have been very good at then it could be a bad day for Hull. I think we are better than them at executing our plan and for that reason I am going for a morale boosting 0-3 as I think we will exploit their poor defense and contain their attacking threat.
I’d be absolutely staggered if he dropped Neil. Can’t see it at all, but Browne must be pushing for a start.
Not sure that's what Smug meant, withdrawn into the back four is how I read it like the manager did against Leeds after taking the early lead. Could be wrong like.
