There’s been so much debate about the balance of England’s midfield over the years with this current generation. At one point, Southgate was playing Rice and Phillips in front of a back three/five which was way too defensive. They’ve tried shoehorning Foden into a myriad of positions with no success. Foden isn’t a playmaker. He’s a good dribbler with a good shot and first touch but he’s not the creative spark even for Man City. At the last Euros, I thought he should play as the #10 but I was wrong. He’s not really a creator and neither is Bellingham, if we’re being honest. Foden’s best position is on the right as someone can dribble in tight spaces, drift inside and get a shot off. Bellingham’s best position is as a box-to-box midfielder. Closest thing England have as a creative #10 is Palmer.
He didn’t choose to leave Man Utd, they let him go. Maybe not a good decision, one of many poor ones they have made in recent years
this is getting boring. there's just been a wtf moment. palmer was running down the right with the ball. 12 was ahead on the flank. instead of passing to 12, palmer stops, turns back, and passes the ball 50000 yards backwards. useless twat. alexander-arnold is playing like a dog turd today.
This match reminds me of a John Peel review of a recording by Pan’s People many years ago. “This is about as exciting and creative as a small carton of lukewarm ostrich piss!”
It's not the Nations league counts as your seeding for WC qualifiers . Plus Portugal, Italy and Spain have all held the Euro trophy and Nations League trophy at the same time . It's an English mentality to decry these tournaments just like the Europa league and Conference league .
