What is everyone's favourite EVER game? Mine was Brazil v Jamaica at Leicester's ground in 2003. Some of the best players at the time, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho plus a great atmosphere. Every time there was a free kick the crowd just wanted Carlos to take it and boo 'd when be didn't take it

Was a privilege to watch some of the greatest Brazilian players at the time. I can always say I've watched Brazil play live

67/68 season last game away to Man U, they win the league with a win. we struggling near the bottom. same day Man C away to Mags. My first away game, we win 2-1and City beat mags 4-3 to win the league. as the result from City game comes through United fans are fuming our fans going crazy running on and off the pitch.
Walking out old trafford my mate says to me " we are all in red and white if we keep our gobs shut they wont know where were from"
what a game for my first ever away day.

My favourites are all Sunderland games or Mag 'cup finals' where they bottle it and lose timidly. Yet despite siding with Rangers my favourite other game is Celtic winning the 1967 European Cup which was, in my mind, the Scottish equivalent of Sunderland in 73.

This was a bunch of daft local lads playing one of the giants of World football who were such massive favourites many thought it would be a brave but inevitable defeat for Celtic. It was always assumed that eventually an English team would win the trophy, especially after the 1966 World Cup victory ...

... but Celtic turned up, went a goal down then all looked at each other and thought 'f*ck this' <laugh>

For years people would come back from Lisbon with stories about meeting Jock taxi drivers who'd spent every penny they could scrounge to get there but didn't dare go home to face the wife ... I'd love to believe that's true.

I've got a number of favourite Sunderland games - Kieron Brady v West Ham, Craig Russell scoring 4 against Millwall, against Chelsea in the cup in 92 (I can still see Gordon Armstrong rising above everyone else for the winner), against the mags when Shearer missed the penalty, mags at home and Kieron Richardson's free kick, Oxford at the SOL when Quinn and Phillips were out and we wondered who would score in their absence and bagged 7! Great memories each and every one but if I had to pick 1 Sunderland game it would have to be against Chelsea at the SOL in our first premier league season. The talent Chelsea had in that side - Desailly, Zola, Poyet, Wise, Flo, Petrescu. We had Williams and Craddock at the back with Eric Roy and Paul Thirwell in the middle and we absolutely stuffed them! Desailly was torn a new arse hole and bottled coming out in the second half. An absolutely brilliant game

Seeing us win at Wembley for the first time in my life, along with the bairn was just perfect

Germany in 2001 or Scotland in 1996. Weird as I really couldn't give a toss about England nowadays.

Liverpool Milan in 2005 was probably my least favourite.

Working in Bristol and living in a village half way between Bristol and Weston super Mud during our first sojourn in the old third division. It was a mid week game away against Bristol City. We won 6-1. Oh joy.

Dunno about my favourite ever game but the most emotionally drained I have ever been watching SAFC was the play off final against Charlton.

Cant really say it was favourite though because we lost

Favourite, probably the 4-1, Rowell hat trick, against the skunks

Even though I watched it in a casino in Perth, this has to go down as the best game I’ve seen as well. So much emotion came out that night. Our son, who lives in NSW, FaceTimed us when the final whistle went and we were all jumping about being idiots!!
I also rarely drink but made an exception, albeit not intentionally that night. I woke up the next day with a pretty bad hangover but then almost immediately realised why and didn’t care. I was grinning like the Cheshire Cat most of the next day.

    Nice when that happens mate.

I managed to get out of work and stupidly hitched down from Mansfield, for a faraway night match, but bumped into a mate from Peterlee on the terrace ...

... he'd fallen out with his lass and drove down alone last minute so dropped me off at the door.

He'd seen me passing Trowell services, on the way down, but thought, 'Can't be him, not at this time.' <doh>

    Brilliant thread.

For Sunderland I think the 92 quarter final replay against Chelsea was special. Just because of the manner of the win. Memories will stay. Away to Man City when we had 15k there too, that day we showed what great fans we are.

I love the world cup. It has produced my idea of all time great games. The last final of France v Argentina was just unreal. Such a brilliant game of football. I love watching iconic games. 82 was the greatest world cup imo. Germany v France semi was a tremendous game. But my all time favourite ever game is Italy v Brazil. I must have watched it 10 times. Brazil 82 is the greatest side I have ever seen. That day Rossi was immense, so were Italy, and Brazil were special too. My favourite ever goal was Socrates past Zoff. Gutted Brazil didnt win, but Italy deserved it.

Non Sunderland game would have to be the 1970 Brazil v Italy. Brazil played a brand of football I've never seen since, pure brilliance
For a Sunderland Fixture The 73 cup final take some beating. absolute fairytale for any SAFC fan

It's absolutely up there in my memories. Me, my dad and the bairn all together. Fantastic.

Apart from that, the Chelsea home game with the Phillips volley was breathtaking.

A day I’ll never, ever forget. The smile on the face of my son was enough for me. Special
