That's fantastic mate. One of the most significant artists of the last 50 years ... ... wouldn't want to meet him but I'd love to see him.
I'm rarely jealous of anyone. However I can honestly say I'm profoundly jealous of Bizarreknives in this instance. David Gilmour has more talent, and 'feeling', than every current popular act put together. He reminds me of Paul Weller who's actually nothing like him in so many ways. But they do share the rare understanding that power doesn't have to mean screaming guitar riffs, pounding drums or shouted words ... ... it can be delicate, almost to the point of fading away completely so you fear it will slip from your grasp. You try so hard to cling onto it that you worry you'll crush it. And here is being totally blown away by a singer who was too fragile to live. When two musical legends like Weller and Holland are humbled by Amy Winehouse it doesn't matter what the rest of us think, we may not 'get it' but people didn't get Van Gogh or Michelangelo for decades ... ... then they did.
Saw him at Edinburgh Castle a few years back and it was a brilliant show. The setting certainly helped.
Brilliant. Love the Scorpions, Tokyo Tapes is my all time favourite album. First seen them in 1980 on the Animal Magnetism tour, blew me away.
Scorpions one of my favs as well. Just trod a great path for me. Tokyo Tapes, yep, what a bloody album. And I still have it on tape. I have an old Teac hi-fi with a tape deck, and it still gets used. Sad really, but I dont like losing my music heritage.
Some of you have been kind enough to give my lads band a listen. Their 5th track is out this week. Red Flame, by Alchemy. On all streaming platforms. They have been wanting to release this for about 6 months but PR guys have bumped it. It is more their sound. My lad wrote all guitars and shared lyrics. As always not my cup of tea, but I do appreciate the guitar skill he is showing on this. Anyway, give it a listen if you want. They are now part of a London promoter group. Next steps is regular monthly gigs in Soho. 1 more track this year. EP in spring 25. All their own material. They are trying their arses off for sure. Supported a popular local band on a midlands tour recently. Public eye. Check them out too, I was pleasantly surprised. Anyway, proud Dad ****e over.
He was incredible, I’m not scared to admit I had tears in my eyes when he played Comfortably Numb. it’s been a dream to watch him play guitar on that masterpiece
He crosses decades mate. My lad loves him and his guitar as much as any modern guitarist. He has all the re-issue vinyl and has a pedal board setup similar to Gilmour.
