It would probably be a sweet amount.. there's about 30k in the queue at times for tickets, but not all 30 will want season tickets. If they success comes they can always increase it potentially... looks like we need to live another decade.
Personally unless we are talking a massive increase in capacity (say 75k+) there's no real point moving on from SJP. Better off trying to add to the Gallowgate End and re-develop the Milburn and Lease's stands to increase capacity if we are looking to get to 60-65k - maybe just shy of 70k but not sure moving for an additional 10,000-15,000 seats is worth it if you can get say 8,000-10,000 more in the current stadium.
I think its more the Corporate side, I remember reading the options for Corporate at the current stadium would be limited and that's where the money is
Move them all into the East Stand - can have it all over that stand with the away fans, in a little stand while the Toon Army tower over them with 55-60k in the three massive stands.
Not taking the piss mate I just don't see why they would. Season tickets were traditionally a way of helping clubs through the summer months when there was no gate receipts coming in. Was meant to be a win/win. Club gets a load of money in during the summer months and fans got a cheaper ticket for the year paying in one go upfront. Now it's cheaper tickets staggered out over the year by direct debit with clubs not needing the money anymore. Then add the other issues in. Either way a new stadium or an increased capacity at SJP - Yes more seats but also a lot more corporate seats and areas. Who do you think gets priority to Wembley cup finals etc? Flogging off loads more season tickets just adds to the **** they already got from the last fiasco, and that was the league cup final where there is the most seats available for fans. FA Cup Finals and European finals have even less seats available. Also if they keep advertising to foreign markets and tourism then they'll make more money that way.
This. The only way we become a world force is if we have a massive stadium which we fill regularly. Think big or go home.
Full story.... I suppose nothing has changed ... no decision made so could be either way, but for me I sense the new stadium will be the preferred option. It's just easier and will bring more £££ which means they can get more players of a higher quality..... football is moving on and if Newcastle get caught up in this nonsense about hallowed turf when it's been replaced thousands of times they'll get left further behind. The opportunity is for Newcastle to have one of the best and biggest grounds anywhere in the world, so it's a no brainer imo. The location is the best thing they'll lose, but who's to say they can't build one fairly close to the current location ? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5936193/2024/11/20/newcastle-st-james-park-stadium-future/
But what about the likes of poor Trev? He's only just figured out how to find St James' after 87 years of going. If they move he won't have a clue how to get to games.
I love folders but if he's really 87 then he'll be in his 90s by the time work is underway on the new stadium. Wouldn't wish anything bad on anyone hopefully they install a stana stair lift.
